Need new light bulb socket for GE spacemaker mircrowave

I have a GE Spacemaker mircowave with exhaust fan and lights, one of the light sockets is bad. The light bulb went out and when I went to replace it the bulb must have been in there so long it corrided it. So I need a new light bulb socket, so question is where can I order/buy one ??

I've just experienced the same thing, the bulb glass came off it's base and the rest of the bulb was stuck in there, the whole bulb socket completely flaked away and after removing the whole socket, I see there is also a lot of corrosion on the power connector to it.
Hoping to find the repair part at the site you mentioned.
    Thanks.

The bulbs are glued in at the factory. Unplug the microwave and see if you can remove the base of the bulb from the socket with needle nose pliers. You may have to twist the heck out of the bulb base but it should come out. If you do need a new socket it is available at www.geappliances.com under parts and accessories. Or call 1-800-626-2002 for GE factory parts

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly with your brand, full model number and symptoms.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE Spacemaker Microwave lights flicker on then off

There must be a short in the wiring between the bulb sockets and the power supply or control board. Otherwise the short may be in the bulb sockets themselves.
I would test the connections to make sure the wires aren't loose and all solder joints are tight. If all wires look good, and bulb sockets are tight, then the problem may be faulty capacitor

Burned out bulb on GE spacemaker micro

This is pretty common and can be a pain. It's tacked in place with contact cement or hot glue, and sometimes there may have been enough moisture to corrode and seize up.

You could heat it up (hair dryer, maybe?) then use needle nose pliers. Be careful if heating so you don't burn anything.

You may be able to put the tips of needle nose pliers inside the broken bulb's socket, gently but firmly force the pliers jaws apart and then rotate the pliers to loosen it.

Another cool trick is to put a big glob of hot glue on the end of a stick or dowel, then shove it into the broken base and let it cool about 5 minutes, then turn the stick.

I like to put a little WD-40 or rust buster on the threads of the new bulb, too. Grease, Vaseline, cooking oil, or anything like that will work. Just a thin coat.

You should check your light sockets for a short, to, before you put in new bulbs.

Once you have the new bulbs in, the cooktop lights still may not work.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.

GE Microwave Surface Lights

The control circuits for the cooktop lights and the hood fan are spearate. The problem is indeed with the control unit. It's usually caused by either the filaments shorting when the lamp blows or by removing or installing the bulbs while the oven is still plugged into the power line. We regularly repair these nationwide for $32.50.
