Re: Sounds like a wheel out of whack

NEVER, NEVER use a home vacuum to vacuum toner. There is a HIGH danger of explosion! If your toner hopper is full, carefully dump over a trash can (Outside) and/or replace. Most likely the bushings on the upper fuser roller are worn or just dirty. I have had some success removing them and cleaning with some light steel wool. Or replace the fuser.

Re: Sounds like a wheel out of whack

Several things. When the drum unit has toner backed up in the waste toner channel, it will put a drag on the drive assembly. Make sure the waste toner reservoir in the toner unit is not filled up. If it is, take the toner unit out, open the spring loaded waste door and try to vacuum or dump out the toner. Do not use a regular home vacuum inside your house. the toner is too fine and will disperse throughout your home and possibly cause some breathing irritation.

Hi There, Our copier is making a horrible

Have you resently added toner? If so, try to reinstall the toner. Odds are that you will need the fuser rachet driver gear. Also, on the toner cartride, did you remove the cover for the waste toner??? You may have a packed waste toner feed screw... Good Luck

From your description it looks like the wheel that turns the drum is busted - nothing you can fix.
Your printer is too old to get new parts and used parts could be more expensive than they are worth (when you take into consideration the labor). Buy a new one.

Sounds like one of the motors is seized.Check that you do not have anything stuck in any of the rollers that may stop the rollers from turning correctly.

It sounds like an alignment issue. If the first line prints correctly, there could be something stuck in the print-head path (like a piece of paper) or the "encoder strip or wheel" could be dirty.

Unfortunately the unit would have to be opened and inspected.
Lift the lid and look under the top cover to the extreme left and right to make sure there is no loose piece of crumpled paper stuck inside.

If this doesn't produce any results, try printing out the alignment page. Press Ink, then test print, then alignment. Print the page. There should be two sets of patterns. Zero represents a perfect pattern. Enter the number beside the pattern that looks closest to zero. You can see a line to each side of each pattern. Always choose the pattern where the line looks like one line, and not like two. If all you can see is patterns with two lines beside them always choose the lines that are closest together. The machine will move your selection to position 5. Print out the test again and select the best pattern again. Keep doing this until the checkerboard effect disappears, and the two lines on each side of pattern 5 have become one line. You may have to do this 10-15 times IF the alignment has gotten really bad.
If this doesn't help, or if it gets worse the unit will have to be opened and the encoder strip and encoder wheel cleaned or replaced.

Sound to me that the ink cartridge carriage is stuck if you can remove ink cartridges and then reinstall them. You may have to take machine apart. There are clips on the bottom of the machine to do this but be aware that when you turn it upside down the waste ink will leak

Hope I could help
Thanks J
