Question about Panasonic PT-50LC13 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Indicator light flashing red.

When tv is initially powered on the indicator lights flashes green for about 45 seconds to a minute, then indicator light starts flashing red. Also, at this time the lamp indicator light flashes red.
I have changed out the lamp two months ago and have removed it and it looks fine...Like brand new.

What can it be the ballast and how do I go about repairing this myself.

Thanks for any help with my problems.

Push on/off button and the power light goes to green, blinking. After about a minute or so, the power button goes to blinking red and the lamp indicator starts flashing red as well. No sound, just flashing lights. I would change the bulb, but believe that it is the ballast? Any suggestions? I have worked with electronics, off and on for years but am in no way a trained electronic tech.

SOURCE: Sony Grand Wega 60" indicator lamp blinks 5X green then 6 red

It is unusually to see BOTH of these flash codes together. I have never seen them at the same time. A 5 flash is a lamp driver error, which is possibly related to your lamp failure. You may have to replace the lamp driver or "ballast" to correct this problem. The 6 flash is a power supply problem and more serious, as it will likely take a technician to narrow down exactly where the fault lies. It may be a thermal fuse open OR a failure in the power supply itself. What was the original symptom that caused you to replace the lamp? Did you use an original Sony lamp as a replacement?

Try a reset. Start by unplugging for 1 minute, then plug back in & if still won't restart try the following. If none of the following work, you will need a technician.

A continuous flashing red light with the word LAMP on it would definitely mean you're going to need to spend a few bucks on a new lamp....or for a few more, upgrade to a TV from this century that doesn't require lamp changes :)

Hi, Our Sony Bravia TV model number KDF E50A11E is not working. There is a red blinking light flashes three times and then goes green and then red blinking again after about 3 seconds. Is this a bulb...

On that particular model I believe there is both a lamp indicator light and then the power indicator light. If it is lamp related the lamp indicator light (LED that looks like a sun in a cup...) would be on.

If the power indicator light is flashing red to green, that is a self diagnostic code, and you will have to contact an authorized Sony repair fascility for them to translate the problem. The error codes are not listed in the user manual, since most are not user serviceable.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
