Question about Estate Dryers

Heat on drum won't turn

Drum stopped turning during a load of wash, but heat comes on. If it's a drum belt that needs replacing how easy is that to self repair? How much would a repairman charge? I see the belt on line for as little as $10.

If the drum is not turning its the belt its not hard but can be a pain for a beginner a repairman would charge at least 150 dollars to fix. It would only take him about ten minutes to do.

Miele w1113. Washer drum won't spin during wash cycle

I assume you are saying the machine is working except the drums not turning? - you need to see if the belt has come off because thats what i would check first if you hear the motor start/stop after it fills up with water.

Loud pop (sounded like a gunshot) during final spin cycle than heard constant noise. Does this sound like a busted bearing or belt? The tumble wheel is now very loose (easy to move and turn inside washing...

if the drum is very easy to turn with no resistance then the belt is likely broken and needs replacing. This is like changing the fan belt on a car where you loosen the bolts on the motor and hinge it towards the drum. Once the belt is in position, lever the motor back away from the drum to tension the belt and tighten the bolts.

Past few days, dryer got very noisy. Then drum

The noise is coming from a moving part. There are only a few that normally cause a problem. Also the dryer drum not turning freely is what broke your belt. Here is what I would replace. Drum rollers, Drum slides and idler pulley. You can check these parts before you replace them. If the drum rollers don't spin real easy, replace. If the idler pulley does not turn easy, replace. If the drum slides are worn, replace. Your model may be one with a front drum bearing. If it looks worn, replace.
You may be able to take dryer apart, try turning drum. Listen for the noise and notice if the drum is hard to turn. If so, you may be able to determine if the problem is in the front or back of drum. Keep on mind that the noise might have been the belt slipping due to the drum being hard to turn. Either way, when you have it repaired, it should run with the noise. Good luck.

Washer won't spin. Belt is slipping. Tub is stuck.

The belt sounds worn out since its slipping. Change it out. Its cheap fix.

The drum brake does just what is sounds like. brakes the drum. For instance when u open the lid during a cycle and everything stops thats the drum engaging and stops the movement of teh drum. If the brake is malfunctioning two things will happen, you open the lid (assuming the safety switch is still good) or the drum will not spin at all.

Drum not turning

If you are certain that the motor was turning, then the only things that come to mind are that:
  1. The belt is stretched or worn-Replace as there is no adjustment.
  2. The drum is stalled, either because it has seized, or there is something stuck in the drum.
  3. The motor brushes are worn, and will not cope with load of drum, check brushes.
Try running it on fast spin without the belt on , if it spins o/k, then that would indicate the motor is o/k.
Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thanks.

Squeaky spin

hi this is going to be one of two problems one is cheap and easy the other expensive and hard to do unless you have special tools.
first i give you cheap and easy problem this could be that the belt from the drum to the motor is slipping under the pressure of the spin cycle these are cheap to buy and only take ten min to fit thats if that is the problem.
The second problem is expensive and hard to do unless you know what you are doing this problem is the bearing on the drum this problem is best getting solved asap as if left will damage drum and usually the motor it damages them as it seizes in the drum causing the motor to over heat and can cause a fire.
If you open the door and turn the drum by hand see if you can hear the noise and also check to see if it turns smoothly it wont be really easy to turn but should feels smooth.
If this is fine then you are lucky and will find that the belt needs replacing my even need adjusting as some you can adjust like a fan belt on a car hopefully you know what im going on about if not contact your local repair shop and they should get you the part for you and tell you if it can be adjusted.
Let me know if you need further assistance ok
