I had a similar problem and decided to take the radio apart to try and fix it. If the male part of the adapter is broken off inside of the radio, the only solution i could see would be to replace the radio"s adapter connection. That is the black piece the power cord plugs into. To do this you need to find a connector exactly like the one you take out and you also have to know how to solder components on a board. And if you decide its not worth it, you can just continue running the radio off of the makita batteries.

I have had a Sony ICF SW7600 for the last 18 years. Now, it only wishes to work on batteries and not on the AC adapter anymore. What can be the problem and how to fix it

I have the exact same problem here in Europe with my perfectly with my Sony shortwave after 18 years. If I fiddle with the ac adaptor in the radio plug, it works for a while. I have replaced and soldered the yellow tip adaptor twice in 18 years and hopefully the problem is with the power plug and not the radio plug.
Any help is appreciated.

My Cobra Road Trip handheld CB won't switch over to battery power when I unplug the 12v adapter. How do I open the casing to check if the spring behind the connector can be repaired or replaced?

Make sure you have good batteries in it ,and installed correct. There should be a switch behind the battery,i think.... but there is a switch on it for ac or dc,switch it to dc,make sure you have the ac plug adapter end unpluged from it in order for it to work......hope this helps.....

ICF 2010, no sound suddenly

If the radio does not work with headphone then the external jack for audio may have broken loose from it's soldered points. Simple re solder may make the repair. Beyond that it would have to be diagnosed by a technician.

Makita radio blinks e

usually the blinking E means the backup batteries are dead.

the backup batteries are AA and should go in the lower compartment on the rear of the radio.

just make sure you install the backup (AA) batteries in first, then insert your main battery to run the unit. doing it backwards wont always clear the "E" notification

I have ASUS A3AC laptop bought in Australia. Now I am facing problem with AC power adopter I believe. Laptop only power up if i push it hard and try few times to connect and re-connect. Due to faulty...

All you need is a power plug adapter. At Radio Shack you can find one for US plugs to any other plug in another country. They will be able to order a reverse adapter, one to adapt Aussie plugs to US plugs. I'd start there and they'll find you one no doubt about it.
