You could have a bad spot on the flywheel. The flywheel is a plate with a ring of teeth the gear on the starter engages. If you turn the crankshaft a few inches and the starter works, I would check the flywheel.
Otherwise, it could be a mounting problem with the starter, or something keeping the bendix gear from engaging.

are you sure you got the wires back on tight? Also it sounds like the bendex is not kicking out like it is supose to.....Did you change the starter cylenoied?

even some new starters are bad, it doesent happen much but it does happen. You might even take the starter back out and run Jumper cables to the starter. See if the bendex will kick out and stay out untial you diconect the starter......Sorry for your run of bad luck and I hope this is of some help.

30 amp starter fuse keeps blowing on 98 cherokee

you may have a short (verify the integrity of the insulation of the positive wire from that fuse going to the rear window defroster, check the relay & switch.) try to replace the relay.

Wont turn over

Not likely, a bad solenoid usually results in nothing starting at all. The starter only runs a few seconds when first starting the engine. It could be the alternator which is always running. The starter basically replace the old hand crank form decades ago and simple rotates the engine while the fuel burn cycle engages.

Car randomly won't start

first thing to do is to add a relay in your starter. relay should be connected to the solenoid of your starter then giving it addition amperes to let the starter motor running.

if adding a relay does not do the trick. replace the carbons bushings in your starter.

another problem should be your ignition timing. if you are experiencing hard starting only when the engine is hot, then your ignition timing is overly advanced.

Just replaced starter in 1990 chevy k 2500 but it just whines.

Hi, the starter-drive (Bendix) isn't spinning all the way into the flywheel (standard transmission) or (flex-plate) automatic transmission.

First, charge the battery using an automatic self leveling battery charger @ 2 amps till the green light comes on. Battery voltage should be taken with a volt meter while someone tries to start the car. If the volt meter drops back to zero the battery is shot.

If you still hear the zing sound buy a re-manufactured starter unless someone is clever enough to easily pull the end of the starter apart, remove the snap ring and starter drive.

Keep in mind, box store electrical parts are junk! NAPA, Carquest and AC-Delco dealers sell starters with lifetime warranties

My 2000 impala will not start. I've had my starter, batt, & engine all replaced. I've begin to suspect my auto theif system as the reason its not starting after a lot of online research, but...

I had a Nissan doing this to me a little while ago, but couldn't figure out the problem. A couple weeks later, the lady told me she took the car to a shop and they replaced the crank and cam sensors. My bet is that it was the crank sensor.

hi..

this may be because due to high temperature the fuel inside may reached it flash point so gassification may occured.
so no atomisation of fuel may takes which doesnt fire. this may be the reason. please keep the hood open for some time the ouside air cools it prevents fuel reaching the flash point.try not to keep the car in hot places

Just had the timing chain repaired a week ago. Went to start the car today and it won't start, almost like it never connects (battery is fine). You also hear almost like a humming noise afterward (about 10...

so, when you try to start it, do you hear the starter make a noise like a clunk? or just a whining like a motor spinning. was the car running well after you had the work done on the timing chain?

it could be the starter solenoid not extending the pinion gear to engage the flywheel to turn the engine.
