Acer 5100 boot up problem

My Acer 5100 LT crashes and then will not boot past the Acer logo screen but instead beeps twice and then gives the option of F1 to continue or F2 to enter set up. When trying to get in to boot to the XP desktop by pressing control-alt-del it does the same thing. Adjusting settings in the set up also doesn't work so they're now at default. At first I replaced the hard drive since it said that it was bad but this did not solve the problem. Then I tried removing the battery which worked a couple of times but not permanently and then re-installed the hard drive which again seemed to solve the problem but not completely. If I move the LT it will crash. I've sent this off to a reputable repair shop with no lasting success. The shop said it was probably the motherboard but I wonder if something is loose and shorts out or at least partially disconnected and acts up when I move the computer or close it.

It may just be that a new MB would solve the problem but the cost is to high to justify it . I 'd probably be better off buying a new one but I'm going to pursue a fix rather than a replacement .

Sounds like a short in the motherboard. I'd go with what the shop said and replace the motherboard.

As the computer starts, press <F8> on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

Acer aspire one go to f8 and safe mode nothing happens

Seems like your OS is corrupted, you will have to try a full system recovery by trying Alt+F10 past the Acer boot logo.
You will lose all your datas when you do a recovery.

Blue Screen with error

Sounds like it's time to reinstall Windows without formatting, recover your data, and then format and reinstall Windows.

Process for your specific laptop should be located in the user manual and recovery disks that came with the laptop.

Try to boot in safemode press f8 key on startup
When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to selectLast Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.

if this does not work you can try MSCONFIG (if boots)to try diagnose your problem

Acer Aspire 5100 will not start right

It seems your hard drive has corupted.
This sucks, all you have to do is push ALT F10 and then go through the reseting menu, you will loose everything on there though except the original data.

Acer Aspire 5100 will not log on

If you have a Finger Print scanner (on select models), it may have failed, if you do not have this device , you may have installed malware - try rebooting and after you see the Acer screen start tapping F8 to get to speacial boot menu - choose Safe Mode and see if you can log in. If still unable, you will have to perform a system recovery - Acer provides an alternate way to recover - when you start the computer you see the Acer logo screen - after this displays hold down the Alt Key by the spacebar and tap the F10 key at the top of the keyboard once or twice - this will start the Acer E-Recovery program - follow the on screen instructions.
