An area on the display it's not working. PowerBook G4

Looks like two big lines (black and white) that don't move. The windows are opening behind then. Yesterday it was ok. Thanks

    Hi There,

Do these black lines stretch the whole length or height of the screen? Can you see how many pixels wide it is approx? What happened physically to the machine between it being ok and it not? What is the condition of the frame, the screen, the screen back and the hinge at the base of the screen?

    Cheers

I'm sorry to say that you will have to replace the screen soon. That vertical black and white lines that appear is the early warning signs that your screen will soon go blurry, or have a partial screen, or have it just stop working. This happens from the many times the screen was lifted open and closed and the ribbon cables just need to be replaced. And since the ribbon cables can't be simply unplugged and then replaced, you will just need to get a new replacement screen.

LCD Display Problems with Apple 15" PowerBook G4 Aluminum 1.25 GHz Mac Notebook

During boot-up, Apple logo heavily pixelated. After boot-up, display a riot of colors and vertical lines with nothing readable. External monitor works well

I'll appreciate any input.

My LCD powerbook G4 has a white vertical line

This is usually symptomatic of a chafed or pinched LVDS cable, especially if the line comes and goes as you work the hinges. This not a user-replaceable part. If the line does not flicker when the hinges are moved, there is a possibility that your LCD screen itself has gone bad.

Colors on Mac G4 Powerbook display are severely distorted

Hi
Goto Apple>SystemPreferences>

in the System section choose UniveralAccess>Seeing and make sure it says Black on White is selected, that Use Grayscale is unchecked and contrast is set to Normal.

If it's not that then its your display and needs a service.

All the best
