WE HAVE A SONY WEGA TV. NOT VERY OLD, MAYBE 5 YEARS. ONE DAY THE PICTURE SEEMED TO BOW ON THE SIDES. I CAN'T THINK OF A BETTER WORD BUT IT SHRINKS MORE IN THE MIDDLE AND IS STRETCHED OUT ON TOP AND BOTTOM AND THE SIDES ARE CUT OFF. INSTEAD OF HAVING A SQUARE [ ] FORMAT THE PICTURE IS NOW ) ( . I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE. IF YOU CAN HELP WE'D APPRECIATE IT. SEEMS LIKE THIS TV SHOULD HAVE A FEW MORE YEARS LEFT IN IT. THANKS!

it sounds like a convergence adjustment problem. If you hava book on the tv still read it, and it will tell you what to do, other wise, look for a convergence button on the front of your tv, and take the remote and push menu to bring up setup, and go convergence adjustment click it and hit the conv. button on the front of the screen. there should be to lines going vertical and horizontal, these are the limes you adjust with your remote, you have to adjust the red and blue, the tv should blink to let you know which color you are on. when you have them lined up right the line will be perfectly white. hope this helps
This mis probably a cold solder connection in the horizontal circuitry called the pincussion. Theres a couple of coils and resistors that overheat from time to time and the solder connections get loose. Not really for a handiman has this tv has hi vboltage inside even when turned off. Shouldnt cost an arm ans a leg to fix if the repair shop knows what they Are doing. Good Luck
