Red ring is not the only problem with Microsoft Xbox 360. This amazing device also has some more common problems like Audio but no video problem, disc read error etc. Microsoft is providing extended warranty only for red ring problem. Means you will have to spend some money to get this problem repaired also if you plan to send your xbox to Microsoft, you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get back your favourite Xbox. There is one more option in the form of DIY guide, this guide Explains solving No Video Problem with step by step instruction, so any novice can fix this problem..

The "Unplayable Disc" error has also been heavily reported. The error appears to be limited to the Hitachi CD/DVD ROM drives that replaced the earlier Toshiba drives. The error message is preceded by a loud series of grinding noises and the system returning to the dashboard. From that point forward, any disc that is put in the unit will result in the "Unplayable Disc" error (although if the user was to eject and close the disc tray in quick succession the disc may sometimes play). In the majority of cases, this error is caused by the adhesive that holds a small magnetic washer heating up and allowing the washer to affix itself to the metal top of the drive. After this occurs, the system can no longer spin the disk as necessary. Numerous fixes are available on the internet, but all involve opening the console box. Opening the console will result in the unit's warranty being voided

How should I hook up my xbox to the back of the television using the red, white, and yellow wires? It is hooked up but I am not getting any audio. Thank you.

First make sure your video cable is set to TV not HDTV

Then plug the 3 RCA cables into the color coded slots on the TV. Make sure you aren't using the red cable from the component RGB but are using the red cable for sound (next to the white one).

Then, if you still have no picture, start the console using the controllers Xbox button and hold "Y" and "RT" until the console restarts. this will reset the video settings on the 360 to default.

Follow this guide if you get confused:

When I hook up my xbox 360 to a floor model flat screen that is probably 7 or 8 years old, there is sound but no picture. When we hook it up to our newer model flat screen everything works fine. Can you...

Are you trying to use HD? Component cables or HDMI? Component cables limit you to 720p. It's possible that your old TV doesn't support 720p or there is something wrong with the jacks. What sort of connections do you have?

Cannot get picture just sound when i hook up my xbox elite system

Double check TV is on video 1,2,3 same for 360s yellow video out.
If then you still have audio only ,the G.P.U has open connections
form the video feed to the mother board
Solution, you must have the G.P.U re-clamp to the main board.
That Works. 99% of the time.

Xbox 360 and bose surround sound no video

If your TV is HD, you should definitely be connecting the component video cables (green, blue and red) from the 360 to the TV (the 321 will not do video pass-thru from component cables). -Make sure you have a picture at this point. (TV switched to whichever input you connect the 360 to)
You can get an RCA extension cable for the audio portion (red and white) to connect to the 321 for audio. You could also connect an optical audio cable to the 321. An optical cable must be assigned from the system menu to work..
Let me know if this helps.

My xbox 360 turns on with 4 green lights but i can not see any picture or sound

it sounds as if you have a connection unhooked or loose somewhere. Double check all audio and video cables are secure and in the correct position. If that doesn't work try troubleshooting by trying a different tv or removing all connections from tv and xbox and re-hooking everything back up.

I hve audio but no video with Xbox 360

As of October 2008, a new motherboard configuration called "Jasper" which uses a 65 nm CPU & GPU is used in the newer manufactured Xbox 360 models. Because this new motherboard configuration is said to produce less heat, it might have a positive effect on the failure rate. The "Jasper" consoles require less power to run and use a 150 W power supply unlike the previous revision "Falcon" which used a 175 W power supply. It has been noted that these newer models have 256 MB built in flash memory instead of the 16 MB memory from previous models which many people believe is for the installation of the New Xbox Exprience, which requires 128 MB of free storage space to function correctly, the remaining space can also be used for the users to save games and other content onto it, rather than an external storage device such as the memory unit.

No Sound on Xbox 360

Very often on HDTVs there may be more than one YPbPr connection... That is the Red Green and Blue. Under each one, or next to, or above, there should be separate red and white audio hookups for each set of YPbPr hookups.

Make sure they are hooked into the corresponding plugs.

Hope that helps.

When i connect my 360 to my tv i only get sound and a flashing screen. why?

Maybe it's a bad video port on your TV. Try hooking it up on another video port on the TV. I've had this same problem because the front video port on my TV was bad. I hooked it up in the back port of the TV and it worked.
