Coil a frozen block of ice 1999 Jenn-Air JSD2374ARW

Consequently there is no air flow to the frig side. I thawed it out thoroughly and it worked great for a couple days now I have the same problem. What is the most likely culprit and how do I find a schematic for this frig?

The most likely cause of the problem is the defrost timer. It's job is to cycle the heaters for the coil on and off at intervals, possibly every six hours the heater should come on for seven to fifteen minutes. The timer is easy to replace and you may find a schematic online if you google jenn-air.

I have a Jenn-Air Refig with the freezer on the bottom. The ICE maker is not working and I think it might be frozen. How do I disconnect the ice maker so i can thaw it out?

Why not do a quick thaw and move the frozen goods over to the firdge for a few minutes and grab a blow dryer. This should give a temporary fix until you can pin point the problem. Be kind to me please with a Thumbs up. I am a long ways away and can only help a little. Raz

Air Conditioner Ice Air Conditioner Problem

If you are experiencing the problems caused when your air conditioner becomes a solid block of ice then you need to figure out the real reason why it does or is doing that.

There are a few things that can happen to cause this unpleasant happening.
  1. The air flow over the coil is choked off to the point where the coil starts to become to cool because not enough air is flowing over it to keep it warm.
    1. Check air filter, if dirty clean it. (This is a very common problem)
    2. Check supply vents in building to make sure enough are opened to allow air flow.
    3. Check blower motor to see that it is operating at full speed.
    4. Return air temperature may be too cool. (below 65F)
    5. The indoor coil it’s self may be plugged with dirt. Clean with a good indoor coil cleaner.

  1. The outdoor air temperature maybe to cool which makes the indoor coil run too cold.
    1. Install a head pressure control to keep the high side pressures up.

  1. The unit may be low in refrigerant. This is often the first thing that gets the blame for causing this problem. Actually it should be the last thing to check after all the other possibilities are thoroughly checked.

If you have a coil that is froze up to a chunk of ice, then you need to remove power to the outdoor unit. Allow the indoor fan/blower to run to try to move air over the coil and thaw it out.
After the coil is completely thawed, then restore power and determine the cause of the freeze up.
A heat gun or hair dryer can assist in the deicing process. Towels and a wet/dry shop vac can help to keep the mess to a minimum also.

I have a Jenn-Air side by side frig. The freezer side cools too cold, the frig side not enough. 2 weeks ago I took all the food out of freezer and noticed ice build up on back. I unplugged unit, let it...

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.
There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

Jenn-air side-by-side: freezer & frig cold on the bottom not top!

It sounds like 1 of 4 things...
1. It could be related to the evaporator becoming Iced over and when this happens it insulates the area iced over and the temp rises...this is caused from the defrost cycle not being activated...(Thermostat, or loose or broken wire)
2. There is a device called the thermistor which senses temp and Ice build up which will cause the unit to go into defrost...this could be bad.
3. The previous fixes may cost a little but not as much as the next which could be a restriction in the evaporator. This is serious and usually requires the replacement of the same...very pricey. Is there only 2 compartment or a pull out drawer for freezer foods..If so you could have an isolated problem in the upper freezer compartment which may be remedied without great cost

If your husband or yourself ..or a handy person can access the back of the freezer by removing the back panel I'm sure you will find either lots of Ice good..as far as cost to repair goes....or no Ice...bad...bad.. as far as cost to repair..the later falls in line with a restriction.
I hope I have helped....please rate me ...The Fang

WHIRLPOOL side by side freezer works fine but frig warm

You may think the freezer is fine, but stick a thermometer in to be sure. It should be around 0 degrees F. If not, you may have iced up coils. See some other posts on this site about getting to those coils and defrosting.

Jenn air refrigerator problem

Couple things to check first is that your evaporator fan motor is running, located in the back of your freezer. open the door and listen for the fan some work on the door switch make sure you depress the switch to check it. If the fan is not running more than likely you need a new fan. The second thing is just look at the back of the freezer compartment and look for a layer of heavey frost if there is heavey frost then your defrost is not working, will need to manually defrost and probably replace the defrost terminator part of the heater assymbly

Jenn-Aire JCD2389GES Side by Side: Frig not cooling fully - freezer fine

i'm thinking that maybe an air duct is either blocked or the damper isnt opening. In the freezer compartment at the top right side there is a cover that is held in place by 1 screw. (look at item number 35 here). remove this cover and make sure ice is not blocking it up. if that is ok, then check the damper control to be sure it is opening and closing properly. The damper is located on the refrig side in the control cover (look at item# 8 here).
