If its that it wont play dvds but it will play blurays but if its that its wont play some blurays and plays others it most of the time just needs to be updated Go to this link http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS300 and follow the step by step and that should fix it.
I did this, so I then went back on manufacturers web site and downloaded from global site then selecting my country, downloaded cd version which you can then burn onto disk using nero 9 (Free Trail on net) .Then just insert disk into player and it should correct problem
Hello i have the same player and i had to do a Firmware Update to update my player so it won't cause this problem (also it could play the recent new blu ray movies). Go to www.sharp.net.au for Australia or www.sharp.net.nz for New Zealand. go to Support, Downloads, put in your Model number then it should have a list of updates you can use. If it says for USB then download it to your USB and then plug it into the back of your player. Go through your operation manual to how to do Software Update, then follow the instructions. If it says for cd/dvd then burn it onto the disk first.
I hope this helps. I can play burnt dvd's on mine with no worries.
You may need to go to Samsung's web site and get a firmware update for your player. Blu-Ray's compatibility is not guaranteed for all disks and Samsung updates the firmware for the various players for disc compatibility on a regular basis. I just looked on their site and I saw they have a version 2.0 update for the US and Canada. Click on the link above and it should download. You may also need to get the firmware update document for instructions. That may solve the problem.
Find out what model drive you have and see if there is a firmware update for the drive.. Sometimes they loose there brain and need to be reprogrammed. If that dosent fix your problem, then the laser is on its way out.. Use a different laser to read dvds vs CDs.
Regarding this issue, the only way to resolve this issue to download a Firmware update from samsung.com
Here is the link where you can download this Firmware update:
Download first the manual on how to update firmware for your unit then download the FIRMWARE file.
basically what you need to do is to download this Firmware update to your computer then burn it on a Disc using nero after that let it play to your Blu-ray player to do an automatic firmware update for your player.
Hopes this helps.
