Fujifilm finepix z20fd gray screen problem

I just bought this camera and charged the battery and when I turned it on the screen stays gray. It almost looks like a lens cover is on. The date and all that shows up but the screen never changes from gray. I put in a memory card and the picture playback showed all my pictures I took from another camera so I wasn't thinking it is the actual moniter that has something wrong. I could be wrong on that though, I'm just not sure. Any advice? Thanks :)

SOURCE: I got a pink Fujifilm Finepix Z20fd and pictures won't download

You don't have to use the software that came with the Fujifilm. I have the same camera. If you're on a laptop that has a slot for SD cards, (if you have an SD card) you can just put your card straight into your computer and load the pictures that way. Also, if you have an SD card reader, you can use that. And if you're on a desktop without either of those options; once you plug your camera into your computer, go to your start menu and click 'My Computer,' then your camera should come up as a removable disk device in the folder. From there, you can drag and drop the pictures onto your desktop or your My Pictures folder.

Hi and welcome to FixYa.

Does your pc "see" the camera?
Turn off the camera and unplug it from the pc.
Restart your computer and plug the camera back in.
Then turn the camera on.
Got to my computer and see if it's listed as one of the removeable drives. Let me know.

SOURCE: Date & Time Stamp

The date is printed on the photos using the "pict bridge" software. The date printing option is set on the computer, not the camera. If the printer has it disabled or it is a printer that doesn't support it, you won't get the date.

Can i charge my camera with the usb

No, charging the battery via USB port is not possible with your Fuji Finepix Z20fd Digital Camera. The USB port can be used for just 2 purposes: (1) connect to USB-compatible printer (to directly print pix), and (2) connect to a PC with a USB port (to upload pix). The only way to charge the camera's batttery
looks like the separate "supplied battery charger."

Check out page iv. of the onine version of your camera"s Users Manual.

The battery on my mom's Fujifilm Finepix Z20 died & I can't find the charger, Christmas is soon & we don't have any working cameras so my question is, can it charge on my computer? if so, how???

Hi, Your Camera using rechargeable battery Li-on 3.7 Volt . Your computer voltage output of USB port is 5 Volt. So I'm not recommend you to do modification to get your battery charged.
Instead, you can the charger on line at this web : http://www.shopping-batteries.com/chargers/FINEPIX-Z20FD-fujifilm-battery-charger.html
The price is about $20. Regards,

I have Windows Vista also, but my installation screen came up. If nothing pops up when you put it in, I would suggest opening "My Computer" and right clicking the icon with FinePix and starting it that way. Or, maybe you could check the Fujifilm site and see if you can download the software off the internet.
