I purchased Garmin Nuvi 760 in January-08 and I loose audio in November-08. The only way to communicate is through FM transmiter, however in big cities like chicago, it is very difficult to set FM frequency.

    Does anyone have solution.

    Thanks

Sounds like your speaker went south. Since your fm transmitter is working I'll be your earphone jack is too. So you could always use an earphone. Only other option is a speaker replacement.

My nuvi 275 doesn't have sound

ok a few things to figure out here, Sound..you cant hear any street names, or music

If its street names you must chose a language that has an ending ( TTS ) text to speech

do that by going to Tools.... Settings... Language... under Voice pick one with an ending ( TTS )

next we will try any other sound... is it muted? on main screen press Volume Icon

doe sit have a checkmark in MUTE? if so remove it

If not then on that screen there is FM Trans on bottom of screen .... press it

Enable FM Transmitter if it has a checkmark remove it...... place a checkmark there if you want to hear your unit thru your car speakers

I lost all voice prompts on my Garmin Nuvi 760. If I use the FM band, it works, and the volume works for keystrokes. Is there a fix for this?

you will just need to de activate the FM transmitter to do that press the volume button at the bottom right hand corner of the main menu and uncheck the box that says something about the FM transmitter

The voice is just not working, all else is fine, no, the mute is not on...??

Do you have the unit set to internal speaker or FM Transmitter? Go to the Volume section from the menu, FM Trans, disable FM Transmitter.

Everything works fine on the unit no problem until

3. If your Nuvi has a FM transmitter, is it selected to "FM" or "Speaker"? The "FM" setting will mute the internal speaker. Setting it to "Speaker" will send sound to the speaker.

if this side of it works then the FM transmitter is faulty

Check that the sound has not been MUTED

plug the earphone into the socket to see if any sound is heard. The socket is also a switch that takes sound from internal speaker to ephone and reverse.
If no sound is hear in either FM or normal mode your unit is faulty and needs repair

There is no sound on my nuvi 760

I had the same problem! When I went under Settings/Language/ there was no voice that the machine could find! It is. I think a firmware bug or something like that.   You have to reset the 760 by holding the on-off switch on the left position for more than 8 seconds. After that you will have to choose the Language of your choice again. Let us see what will the next software upgrade brings us as a better solution.

Garmin 760 - No Voice Directions

Go back into your tools and settings and re select the voice of american jack and see if it comes back on.
I lost the voice 2 days ago while on a trip from tenn. to florida and this fixed it. we never shut off the voice but somehow while using bluetooth or FM trans it shut off voice transmiting.
