Not sure what cartridge type this printer uses, i have officejet which has hp88 type, i get this problem after about 2 cartridges worth. i get a syringe and **** a very small amount of ink out the cartridge replace it and it works.

think this has something to do with air bubbles in cartridge but not sure, try shacke the cartridge for few seconds and put it back in. HP have put some kind of ink flow detector in there systems to avoid damage to the print heads if air bubbles get in the system. Genuine HP cartriges are assebled into a bag type system on hp88 hence no air is present in cartridge, the ink just sucks the bag flat as it uses the ink so i think thats why it reports as it does, its believed no air can be possible to enter the system.

hope that helps or was informative in some way.

Only the non hp cartridges which have written the compatibility on it can use with the printer. make sure it has the model number written on the non hp cartridge.

Can I use ink cartridge 94 and 97 for a C4385 HP photo smart printer?

Unfortunately no....the HP Photosmart C4385 printer uses HP 74/75 (or 74XL/75XL) ink cartridges. However, you can get your cartridges refilled at most Costco stores or any Fry's Electronics store at a fraction of the cost of a new ink cartridge.

Non-recognised ink cartridge

I haven't tried the Colour/B&W/Stop button combination suggested above, but on a Canon MG5250, switching off, then on, and immediately holding down the 'stop' button for 20-30 secs does seem to disable the block. After that the colour concerned has no indicator. It seems that refilled cartridges will woork for a few refills (showing low ink on the indicator) before requiring the permanent fix.

Hi..good fine day!!Its right..no chip no detection in the printer. No..no..you can't trick the printer. Please buy a good cartridge.A new one is good..even if not genuine as long as it has a chip and compatible with your printer.
Best wishes,

Exactly the same frustrating problem. New cartridge = no ink

Two possible causes..

1. The cartridge chip is telling the printer that it's expired

or..

2. The rubber bulb in the base of the cartridge can be pushed all the way in without any ink leaving the cartridge. If that's the case the non-return valve in the cartridge itself has failed. This condition results in the printer thinking it's empty so you need to take the cartridge back to the supplier and get a replacement.

Hope that helps even if I've missed a third possibility.

Printer wont print color anymore

I dont mean to insult you by replying with the simplist answer first, I am making asumptions from your question. The most likely cause of the problem is the protective cover on the ink cartridge did not come off completely before instalation. Have a look at page 126 in the user manual (link at bottom of page)

Blurry printing in a year old hp photosmart c4385, i've already cleaned the cartridges and realigned them. what else can i do other than replace the unit?

Look where the heads park when not printing, then make the heads go to center (cartridge changing procedure). Under the area where the heads park is a head cleaning pad that gets soaked with ink. Fish this pad out (wear rubber gloves) and squeeze the ink out as best you can. Try washing the ink out with soapy water, or use rubbing alcohol if the water won't touch it. Let dry, and reinstall as before. Run head cleaning process several times. Hope that helps.

HP Print cartridges are unrecognised

Hi,

I understand your concern, the cause for this problem is you are trying to install the cartidges which belongs to different zone. This is due to regionalization of the cartridges. As you have bought the printer from UK you should get the cartridges from that zone only.

Click here to know which zone UK belongs and which cartridge is compatible with your printer. From the link you can find UK belongs to zone 2 and New zealand belongs to zone 1. So return the uncompatible cartridges and replace it with zone 2 cartridges.
