KitchenAid Superba Microwave/Oven, Microway Door message
My KitchenAid Superba Microwave , KAW38AVM726, will not start. I get a "Door" message when I try to start it. The Message only shows when I try to set the time with one of the function buttons, like Defrost times. If I just try to start it with the Start button, it just beeps three times.
WE HAVE A KITCHEN AID SUPERBA MICROWAVE MOD # KEMC378
DISPLAY SHOWS 'DOOR' WHEN START BUTTON IS PUSHED.
NO LIGHT AND NO ROTATING DISH
I THINK IT IS THE FUSE. HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE FUSE?--ANY INSTRUCTIONS AVAILABLE?

I lost power and had the same problem. 177 degrees and ERR whenever I tried to change it. Reading the manual, I noticed that it was showing the degree symbol instead of F. When you hold down the broil/maxi/econo button for five seconds, it changes to F and then it worked perfectly. Makes no sense, but worked without any repairs needed.
I had the same problem with a Superba wall oven. In my case, the bracket mount for the door lock warped due to the heat of the self clean cycle. We were able to open the door by inserting a coat hanger into the slight opening at the top of the door and sliding the lock lever to the left. It was a pretty easy self-repair -
1) turn off breaker
2) slide oven out 2-3"
3) remove oven front trim pieces
4) remove screws that mount control panel
5) this should give you access to the door lock mechanism.
I found the answer by checking the Kitchenaid website to find the manual. My model is KEMS308sss04, this is found on the right door frame.
You can preheat oven, but then turn off to set thermometer.
Put probe in food.
Put food in oven and plug in probe.
The digital light asks for the temperature you want, type it in.
Then the cooking method. I used convection bake at 325.
(The first time I didn't stop the oven and it didn't work. After stopping everything and starting with the probe before turning on the oven, it worked perfectly. Good Luck.
Lisa, I do not have a solution, but have the same problem. My KA superba micro has been used about 10 times. While it was off, and while no one was home, the outer glass in the door shattered. I suspect this may be a defect.
