Question about Philips HTS-6500/37 System

Open Question

Phillips hts 6510

I had to take to pieces my hd phillips hts 6510 dvd player as it would not take or eject dvds, this followed only a very small drop down the back of the stereo stand it was placed on, after removing virtually everything inside to get near the dvd player within the casing i managed to get out the dvd, I believe the round plastic thing that presses down on the centre of the dvd and holds the dvd in place had edged slightly off its rails, i put it in place again, it was put back togtether it now ejects fine, I believe that I managed to put everything back where I found it, the dvds now eject however when I put in any dvd it plays for about 7 seconds then comes up "root" on the didital display and the tv screen freezes!!!!! nightmare please help?!?!

SOURCE: phillips 6500 home theater system

Turn the power off, and then unplug the home theater from the wall outlet. Plug it back in after about 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If it still won't eject, then the HTS needs repair. Philips will replace it if it is still in warranty.

Philips hts 6102 region codes

People seem to have said that there isn't a region hack for the HTS 6120, but I did mine yesterday by just following the standard Philips steps:

1) Turn on
2) Eject
3) Enter 99990 OK
4) Turn off (Standby)

Works fine now for region 1 and 2 (I don't have any DVDs from other regions).

Stuck DVDs

i put in a DVD yesterday and it got stuck in the machine. no mtter what i did, it wouldn't eject. it just said "No Disc". I read all the posts here and everywhere on the net. none of them worked (Stop +2-5-9), eject right after powering up. So, i called Phillips and the guy told me to unplug the machine and wait at least 5 minutes. then plug it back in, and HOLD the power button down for at least 30 seconds. after about 20 seconds it will flash some stuff on the little screen. keep holding the button. then push eject button. AND IT WORKED. the disc ejected. Now i am going to upgrade the firmware. i let the phillips guy know that they should be embarassed to have sold this unit. i am anxious to see if the firmware upgrade will fix this issue. the download for the firmware can be found at www.philips.com. search for the unit (HTS6500) under support link on top. at least i know now that i can get a disc out if its stuck.

Playing recorded DVDs on PC or other DVD player

Recordings from your DVD recorder should play on other DVD players as long as you finalize the recording on your recorder.

A PC should recognise an un-finalized, but only in a DVD writer drive.

There is a firmware upgrade available for this model. Follow this link and select your particular country version DVDR3320/XX

http://www.support.philips.com/support/html/index_gb_en.html#../~scripts/xsltransformsearch.asp?url=http://www.sms.philips.com/catalogue/list?sid=SMS||type=CONSUMER||locale=gb_en||mode=prod_text||item=dvdr3320v||page=1||show=50&xsl=search_result.xsl

Select Software & Drivers and click on the link to the zip file.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Phillips 6500 home theater system

Turn the power off, and then unplug the home theater from the wall outlet. Plug it back in after about 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If it still won't eject, then the HTS needs repair. Philips will replace it if it is still in warranty.
