Web cam not accessed through USB port on ACER 4001LCi TravelMate
The web cam that we have will not work when entered in the ACER 4001LCi TravelMate. Thought that it might be power to the USB port being blocked or turned off. The program is on the computer and a window came up (in German which I do not read) that looked like it was not able to operate from the computer. Is the computer able to use a web cam, do the USB ports have an "off" switch if there is such a thing, how do I connect it so the computer can recognize it?

Go to www.acer.com > US > Support > Drivers > Put you model number in > Select your operating system (Windows 7 64-bit or other) > download the web cam driver and double click it to install. If this procedure does not work, you probably have a web cam failure for your built-in web cam. You can purchase a portable web cam and plug it into your USB port.
Here is the Acer Support & Downloads Webpage for your model: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product_support.aspx?tab=1
Just choose your Operating System from the dropdown menu and choose Bluetooth Updates.. BUT I RECOMMEND that you Download/Install ALL UPDATES FOR YOUR SYSTEM as well.. OK? :) PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR AND DON'T FORGET TO TATE MY SOLUTION... OK? THANK YOU
if the web cam is bult into the laptop/pc it will have a program to use it, or it will start atomaticly on a program like skype or msn. If it is a web cam you plug in via usb port it will start up when you press video call on msn skype or eney program that uses web cames

unless your a very competant motherboard components repairer.
this is beyond repair. i,d suggest taking it to a repair centre, where they will replace the motherboard. and unfortunately a large invoice to go with it. probably more cost effective to look at a replacement laptop.
