On most electronic items built now adays the first thing to do is unplug the power for appx 1min and plug back in what this does is reboots in essence the main pcb or controller of electronic mfg items and may indeed resolve your electronic problems yes even try this on you dvd players, cd players, ect....
Sound allot like there is a serious air leak....Is the door sealed good? You also have a defrost drain line plugged up behind the freezer panel you will need to clear that out with hot water after removing all the ice.

check that the damper door between the refrige and freezer is operating with the refrige adjust control,sometimes they ice up in a position and cant let cold air in to the refrige,deice it with a hair dryer and then adjust that control and watch if it moves open or closed
