Good evening - when I connect my 730T to the mac & ask to check for updates, it hangs, also unable to operate from the computer.
Thank you after start up of my new 730 I cant get it to call up any maps. when I switch it on I get a flashing white cross in a red circle. I have tried to reset but htis does not work either. please help. BrianB
Hi - have had the same problem - if you look on the tomtom website and support they have a list and one is flashing red cross. You need to follow the steps to format the tomtom. I did this and it worked and it included the update. i havent reconnected since i have it working now. I think its a software problem with HOME. Make sure you do a back up on home and make sure you follow step by step. close HOME before you start to reformat and also in the preferences turn off the automatically connect to home when you plug into your computer or it keeps flashing up on the screen to correct. the only solution is to format it. i bought mine two days ago and the first one stuffed up so took it back for a replacement. this one worked when i turned it on but turned out the flashing cross appeared when connected to computer (i have a mac). good luck

1connect your tomtom to your computer.
2using windows explorer find your tomtom as an external drive on your computer (usually called tomtom).
3open your tomtom drive and save all its contents to a new directory somwhere on your computer.
4ensure the data is saved it may take several minutes.
5deleted all data from your tomtom device.
6switch off your tomtom remove and press the reset button for 15 seconds.
7reconnect your tomtom ( device name may have changed but drive letter should be the same as before)
8 copy all the files back to your tomtom device from your previous directory,(this may take several minutes longer, if you are asked to overwrite any files on your tom tom say no keep the newest files on the device).
9 switch off your tom tom and remove from computer
10 when you switch on your tomtom "disconnected" it may cycle over the start image a few times while it re-maps all the files internally but afterwards it should be ok again.
NOTE this worked for me but it is not a TOMTOM recognised solution to flashing cross or other hanging problems.
