Hi reidchaardol, if Microsoft said it was a problem with the product installer then, IT IS a problem with the product installer. I got a same problem with you when i tried to install Office 2007. What i did is that i upgrade my win xp. After that everything go smooth.
It happen 'cause the installer in your windows corrupt/gone. Try to upgrade your os first.

My office 2007 soft ware was damaged, iam unable to run this on computer due to scraches on cdrom. kindly give me ms office 2007 version.

If the scratches are light then you can purchase a CD scratch removal kit to polish the scratches off the CD.
You may be able to download MS Office 2007 from the Microsoft WEB site. You will need the product installation code that came with your Windows installation CD.

I have a gateway computer with microsoft excel. To setup, I need a product key number. The number on the back of my computer does not work. It shows invalid number when typed in. How can I fix this...

All original buys come with the installation CD's of Microsoft Office as well as the OS, check the cover of that CD. If you are unable to find it you can contact gateway and let them know the S/N of your computer and they might help you.
You are trying to put in the OS numbers into the office installation this will not work. You need Microsoft Office keys, please refer to the place you bought it.
Thanks
