You will need 2 new door hinges as they go weak after a time.and people tend to rest things on the door when open this will also weaken the hinges.they can be puchashed and fitted by anyone who is handy.(ie) not a big job only a few screws..hope this helps

How can i fix fan oven door? magnet doesnt seem to work so heat escapes from the gap.

Check the alignment to see is the door makes a complete closure. If the door sets perfectly, check the hinges on both sides to see if they are tight and make proper connection with the oven opening. I doubt if the door seals using a Magnetic strip, it generally hold fast by spring pressure.

GE under oven drawer sags, won t close properly, big gap exists between drawer face and oven door.

Don't look too hard for a solution to the problem. I have seen this same issue with three or four other manufacturers brand stoves. Not sure why they can't build a drawer that won't bind and stick, but they seemingly cannot.

Oven door will not fully close allowing heat to escape and light stays on

Is the door locked? if it is it won't close all the way if it was in the locked position before it was closed. like if it was programmed for "self clean" without the door being closed, the lock would be engaged still.

How do I replace the oven door gasket on my VGIC3686

Replacing a Door Gasket

If the oven won't heat to the desired temperature or heats unevenly, the problem could be a defective door gasket. The best way to test for this is to pass your hand around the door, being careful not to touch it, while the oven is turned on. If you can feel heat escaping, the gasket needs replacement. Replace it with a new gasket made for the range.

On most ovens, the gasket is located on the frame of the oven, and the door closes against it. This gasket is generally friction-fit in a channel and can be replaced. In other units, the oven door has two sections, and the gasket is not mounted on the door frame, but is installed between the front and back sections of the door. Don't try to replace this type of gasket; call a professional service person. Here's how to replace a frame-mounted gasket:

Step 1: Pull the old gasket out of the channel. On some oven door frames the gasket is held in place with screws. To get at the screws, bend back the exposed edge of the gasket.

Step 2: Clean the channel and the door frame with a solution of mild household detergent and water.

Step 3: To install the new gasket, start the replacement at the top of the door frame and work down the sides, easing the gasket around corners. Finish the installation along the bottom, butting the ends of the gasket firmly together.

Oven door will not close all the way. 6" gap at the top. No problems until last use and now won't close. Any hints on how to proceed would be appreciated. Thank you!

Most oven doors are held in place by two hinges at the bottom. Usually these hinges are not attached but hook into the oven.

Sounds like you need to readjust one or both of the hinges.

Usually can be done by pulling up on the door and pushing the bottom of the door in.

Write back if you have more problems.

Oven door does not seal

Drill out the rivets with a power drill use nuts bolts and lockwashers where the rivets were Once the door is back on:
loosen all the door screws then bend the door diagonaly slightly to square it with the oven opening (don't worry you won't damage it) then tighten the door screws again check to see that the door is flush (no gaps)

Oven door won't stay shut and light stays on. whirlpool

How old is the oven? Did this problem just start? If this is an older oven, and it started having this problem recently, it sounds like the door is bent slightly. Enough to keep the light on. Anyone put weight on the open door, (or as I saw once, someone trip and land on an open dishwasher door, which didn't shut properly afterwards) You can get a piece of paper, put it at the top corner of the door opening, try pulling it out. Try this all around the opening, you should be able to tell where it doesn't close properly. U might be able to 'tweek' it, by trying to bend it to close tighter at the largest gap, BUT this could make it worse, or if it has a glass panel, u might break it. So, tweek at your own risk. countrycurt0
