Installing Optex Memory Card Reader

Dear Experts

I have an Optex Memory Card Reader OSDRDR that fits in the USB Port. I have Windows 98SE. Running the installation on it's own Windows 98SE cannot find a driver. There is the other option of selecting one but I don't know which one, and have been warned by clicking a couple that the driver does not match the device and it might not work correctly. I visited the mfr. website.
www.gentec-intl.com and saw under ''Support'' there were Drivers for Windows 98. So, not knowing if that was the ''fix all'' for both versions of Windows 98, I tried, and from the log report- it said: ''Setup detected an incorrect version of Windows.'' And there were more errors and problems throughout the rest of the report. -Installation was unsuccessful. So, my question, is there a driver for this device, either somewhere in Windows 98SE- and how would I find it and install it- or is there one the web, and where might that be?

Thanks

You should email the company and ask about this specifically. Sometimes the drivers they show don;t work or require something else to be loaded, such as a specific .Net framework version.

I have a possible solution, so simple but took me 5 hrs to figure it out. Plug in your optex, go to control panel and click 'add hardware'. The wizard will add and the pictures popped up right away. Duh!

It should just plug in and work... try another USB cable / another USB port
It could be faulty. Try plugging it into another laptop also..

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Windows NT operating system

Your Kodak EasyShare digital camera will not work directly with a computer running the Windows NT operating system. The Windows NT operating system does not support the universal serial bus (USB) standard, and all Kodak EasyShare digital cameras communicate using the USB standard. However, you can transfer pictures from your camera to your computer by purchasing a parallel port card reader. Take the memory card with pictures from the camera, insert the memory card into the card reader, and then copy the pictures from the memory card to the computer.
