Hi there , this does happen with laptop hard drives they will not spin up or detect its just where & tear , the d600 has been around for a couple of years now , most of the time i just buy a faulty laptop just for the ram & hard drive if you need a cheap option this is better just check the specs on the auction before you bid to get a good size hard drive & format it before you use it .

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Every time I turn it on, it says that the primary hard disk cannot be found. It is long past its warranty. Solutions?

There's no way you can fix a hard drive unless you're a professional who deals with at on the regular .... Other then that ...what you need is a new hard drive....

Ya sounds like the hard drive has died or there is a interface problem since you suffered from water damage. you may be able to get data off the hard drive by using a external hard drive connector but it may or may not work.

I but a dell d600 latitud 60 hdd and 512mb,using it up to a month pluse it was tell me 0 primary hard drive not.

I assume you meant "primary hard disk drive 0 not found"? Have you pressed F12 during bootup and run the HD diagnostics? If you can't run the diags and it does not show up in the BIOS, then you have a bad hard drive.

I've seen this error many, many times on D600s.

Primary hard disk drive 0 not found

Hi Kenneth,

If you just bought the laptop, then it is still covered by a warranty. Then all you have to do is contact the seller or directly to dell. This is the fastest and most appropriate way, and usually you will get one-to-one replacement (they will replace your laptop with new one). But, please make sure by contacting Dell.

Help???

You should try resetting the BIOS back to default - if I remember correctly, the Dells of that time had that option in the BIOS. If you still have issues, it may be a coincidence that the drive encountered problems at the same time as when you changed that setting. The software settings you picked in Windows shouldn't affect the drive being seen in the BIOS.
