Question about Nikon Coolpix L15 Digital Camera

Why hasn't my Nikon Coolpix L15 ever really worked?

My dad gave me the Nikon coolpix L15 last year for Christmas. I have never really been able to use it, because it will not hold a battery life after about 5 pictures. I have tried many different brands of batteries, but nothing works. What is the problem? My Dad also bought this same camera for his girlfriend, and she has had the very same problem.

I have the same problem: batteries (whether alkaline or MH rechargeable) do not last more than a few shots (less than thirty) in the Coolpix L15, from day one. I sent the camera for repair to Nikon service and I got it back with this message: "We have examined your Nikon Coolpix L15 and found it to be operating within factory specifications."

What kind of specificatios do they have in that factory? Not very demanding, it seems!

Yeah, same problem here... Used many types of batteries and they only last approx 20 shots. If the camera even decides it has enough power to turn on! Battery Exhausted message appearing to early. Trying Energizer E+ and they seem to be holding on. A good digital camera will come with good rechargeable batteries, unfortunately this Nikon was a gift, so I had no option. It was a nice thought... My Sony Cybershot came with a lithium battery that has lasted for ever. Quality Control @ Nikon must have been on holidays with this one. They should have simply threw in a charger and 2x rechargeable batteries, and put the price up $10- more dollars. Too much competition for little mistakes like this.... :-(

Solution is good batteries, Ni-Mh or Lithium, rechargeable only not alkaline. but...problem is how long you watch pictures on lcd display or how much is flash in use. if always by shooting pics used flash that means that you can with best batteries 30, 20 or less pics shooted. and of course, if you connect camera with pc, how long is cam on? just transfer pics on pc and turn the camera off. the best solution is use the card reader for pics transfering.
if is flash off, it's possible to shot 120-150 pics with Ni-Mh. with lithium i don't know, maybe 500 pics. don't use camera lcd for analysing pics it's just there for short preview.
with alkaline batt., very low quality, i shot 30 pics without flash.

i shot also very good pics at night without flash. nikon coolpix L15 can do that but you must have more praxis. and that was all magic:).

    alkaline batteries shooting!

after 3 pictures on display is message: warning! the battery is exhausted. what you can do? turn the camera off. wait about 10 minutes. turn the camera on, you can shot 3 or 5 pictures and than turn your camera off again.
you can repeat this few times and you be lucky if you 30 pics captured:)
REMEMBER: all this goes without camera flash!!!
flash and every zooming use more battery power!

You have to change the 'battery type' in the settings menu to match the type of batteries you're using. I hadn't used the camera in months because of crappy battery life, when I finally read the manual and found that there was a setting for either NMH or Li etc.

Your battery has probably expired...;they only take so many charges. Try a new one (before you buy it!)

We have a laptop Windows 7 installed. Will the Nikon Coolpix L15 be compatable with this computer?. Instructions say x2000 and Windows XP. Thanks, Vinita Tarr

Yes, it is. Simply plug it in and Win7 will set it up. Both 32 bit and 64 bit Win7 work with this camera.

Nikon Coolpix L15 - save picture to photo card

I assume you mean transfer from internal memory to card?
This is on the menu system - simple scroll through the menus to find transfer.
Also the MANUAL[Handbook] will tell you.
no book - look on the software disk it is there as a PDF file that can be read/printed.
