My kodak ESP 3250 needed an update and now it only has a grey screen

I put new printer cartridges into my ESP 3250 and was immediately informed that I needed to update the software. I clicked "ok" and it downloaded the software and installed the software. Then my printer screen just went blank and now the printer won't boot up. All that happens is, the printer comes on, the power light flashes once and then it comes on constantly with a grey screen showing on the printer. Nothing else happens. It just won't do the "starting up". What can I do to kick start it into working? Do Companies really send a signal to the appliances to stop them from working immediately after an update in order for you to buy another product? Well this has taught me something, if my products work in future I am never doing another update and if I can't fix this problem, I will never buy another Kodak product. This printer is hardly used. I have only changed the printer cartridges once in 2 yrs so you can see how often it is used. What could be the matter with it?

SOURCE: Kodak ESP 3250. Error 3527. I put new ink

Contact Kodak. I think it's the batch of printers that were made around this time. I just contacted them (mine is the same age and I'm getting the same error), and they are sending me a new printer.

SOURCE: I have a Kodak ESP

If this printer is like some of the HP printers I have serviced in the past, many printers like this use a tiny bit of color as a "primer" to make the black "blacker" and to prevent bleeding in systems where the color is dye and the black is pigment.
A number of printers may allow a "use black only" in the driver settings, but many other printers will simply refuse to print if the color runs out, even if you are printing black and white.
The short answer is, chances are, you need to replace the color cartridge.

SOURCE: Kodak ESP 3250 won't print black. Changed

I fixed my ESP 3250 print problems by removing the cartridges and print head. Using a Q-tip and warm water, added drops of water to each of the print head ink wells until the water / ink from the wells bled thru onto a cleanex. Did this several times. Dryed the print head fairly well. Then added a drop of water to each cartridge for each color. Reasembled and ran an alignment and to my surprise, it works! I hadn't used my printer in a while, so the ink had dryed on the felt for both the print head and cartridges.......

Printer Does not recognize Color Cartridge Error 3603 for ESP 3250

Are you using "compatible" cartridges? That is usually the problem. Try using Kodak cartridges. If that doesn't work, it's the printhead. You could try cleaning it.

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
  3. If the error continues, contact us.

I have an all-in-one Kodak ESP 3250 printer. Bought it 4 months ago. I'm interested in printing only in black, but now the color cartridge has emptied and it won't let me print with the black cartridge...

The KODAK All-in-One Printer uses an advanced built-in printhead. The system is designed to provide excellent image and text quality, while eliminating the need to purchase new printheads every time you replace ink cartridges, and saving you money. The printing system requires that both the black and color ink cartridges be installed to print. If either cartridge is not installed or is out of ink, the printer or printhead will not print correctly.

Install the color a new cartridge, avoid damage to the print head.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

I have a brand new Kodak ESP 3250. Not one drop of ink color or black, is coming out of the cartridge. And even so, the indicator shows a loss of ink. ! no spills inside. I am absolutely certain the...

Clean the gold section of the print cartridge's with a wet paper towel.
Also clean the gold surfaces where the cartridge meets the printer.
Wipe the contacts clean with a dry paper towel once you get no ink back on the wet paper towels. Allow about an hour for the printer to dry.
Reinstall the cartridges and try printing.

Hope This Helps.

My Kodak esp 3200 series printer wont acknowledge the new black ink cartridge I just put in. Now it is saying-" black inkcartridge needs replacing-replace black ink cartridge".

Is this a genuine ink? If not then try removing and inserting a few times. If this does not work then unplug printer, leave for a few minutes then plug in and turn on. Some non-genuine inks (and some genuine) just do not ever work though.
