More information is required to properly troubleshoot this problem. How is your television connected when you are watching HD? Do you have HDMI for this, do you have a satellite or digital cable box? For analogue are you using regular coax antenna (cable TV), or are you going through a cable or satellite box?
This could be related to the aspect ration setting. perhaps you ahve changed your aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 or some other setting. If you are connected via HDMI, then the digital signal may be "normalizing" your picture during HD, but reverting back to the other setting.
Check you video settings very carefully. HD televisions are very difficult to tweak properly.
Most of the problems I've seen on that set are on deflection p.c.b. After removing rear cover it is the board on the bottom left hand side. Look in the middle section of it for 3 to 5 capacitors which are bulging on top. Replace them with higher value components. If they are not visable it is probably the high voltage transformer that needs to be changed. Either way it will require troubleshooting test equip. and soldering equip. You can replace the whole board with a rebuilt for around 250.00 Good luck, Russmann.
