If its a 12v dc system you need atleast 12v dc at the switch and you'll also need a good ground wire to bare metal.

2008 cobalt center brake light doesn't work. bulbs are fine and replaced brake light switch, still won't work. tail light brake lights work fine.

That has to be tied into the other 2 lights and if they worked it wouldn't be the switch causing the problem but rather the connection where that light ties into the circuit with the others. Look for a disconnected wire or plug in the back by the light. You can always run a new wire from the others up to it if you have to.

High mount brake light works, but tail brake lights dont 2000 mercury mountaineer

I'd check the bulbs and wires on tail lights. Sometimes bulbs go out of place and wires corrode. In my car (not a mercury though) I had to give a little smack on the light to get it working. Of course, eventually I cleaned all wire connections (including ground wire) inside the light and all works now. I had a problem with one light though so if both tail lights are out it might be wires broken/shorted on the way from splitting point where one section heads to the high mount brake light and other to the tail light.
Would be good to check the fuses too, they might have different ones. If blinkers and reverse also don't work then it's more likely wire problem like I stated before.

How do i view video without hooking to brake cable?

If you choose to bypass the parking wire without using a module manufatured for that purpose; try connecting the parking brake to ground and test. If this doesn't work, you make have to use a two wire toggle switch. Connect one side of the toggle switch to ground and the other side to the stereo's parking brake wire. Switching it back and forth will supply the necessary ground for the stereo.

Max386vd handbrake bypass

Check you local law first because in must of the states you're not allowed to drive wile watching a movie or video. Then connect the handbrake wire to ground and you'll be done, but if you need to bypass it only some times, connect a small toggle switch between ground and the handbrake wire, this way only activating the switch you'll bypass the handbrake wire.

The dimmer swich is suspect, Its mixed in with the turn signal switch wiper switch. sometimes it can be found watching the lights to push in and wiggle the turn signal switch if it comes on low at all doing this the switch is bad. It fails alot everyauto parts store should have it and take the covers off the collum to change it don't forget to check the plug that plugs into the switch for burnt connectors or backed out wires. find the wire that comes hot when you put power right on the low beam wire on the headlight ( lows will be on ) there'll be a wrre that came hot that wasn't with every thing hooked up, Unhook jumper and hook right at switch if it works from the switch the switch is bad. Change and ride saftly at nite. Some models have daytime running lights and the fuses for them are in their own fuse panel and have heir own relay this doesn't happen very often.

The brake pedal switsh will be way under the dash, almost where the pedal meets the firewall. It will have either two seperate wires or a connector attached to it. If you disconnect this and put a small piece of wire in-between the wires and your brake lights come on, it it the switch.

What did they do????

this most likely was a remote ON/OFF for the amplifiers, sometimes it is easier to do than locating the remote wire on the dash unit.
