I have a Toshiba rear projection TV model # 50H71 for about a month the tv would randomly pop off (lose sound and picture) for about 45 seconds and then come back on now th picture is reduced in size by...

Good Day,
The TV has a convergence problem; the IC’s for that circuit will need to be replaced. The cost for this repair runs around $450.00 or more.

Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number
23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number
23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is
detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC
version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version as
shown in Figure 2. Replace the Convergence Output IC’s using the “T”
type version Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T).

Screen is showing a 3d effect. also the picture shows an outline also of pictures

The convergence IC has gone out. The convergence IC is either on the Main bd or the power supply bd depending on the specfic model and must be replaced and a Full convergence must be performed. Only a Samsung trained tech can do this. It will not be cheap.

I have a philips 9p6044. where can I buy convergence ic's and a

its far more likely that you need a new Vertical output IC. The convergence ICs wouldnt prevent the picture. When you have audio but no video it is often meaning vertical failure. Try replaceing the vertical IC

Horizontal Line through middle of TV screen

That sounds like simple ring-cracks in the vertical circuit, most likely the vertical Ic itself... On the printed circuit side of the Tv look at the vertical Ic and examine it carefully under some magnification where each pin of the Ic solders to the board. See if you can find any cracks in those solder connections.

Picture flickers in and out rapidly, gets blurry for about 5sec then looks like new for about 5sec then back again

Did you replaced 2 IC convergence as well or just 2 resitors 3.9 ohms ? if you did replaced 2 IC then you might have probelm in convergence drive it is1 of the PCB mount vertical on the left side from the rear view under part BP95-00415C you need to readjust the convergence by using your remote control just follow in the servive manual

Phillips 60'' rear projection

There are only a couple of things that can casuse chirping in that model...1 is the convergence ic's and the other is the flyback. There are others but these are the two most common. Who replaced the convergence chips?
Do you know how to use a meter?
do you know how to soler?

Bent picture

Not sure if you fixed your problem already. But the answer is a color convergence problem. You can try adjusting manually via the remote and if that doesn't work it is most likely the two main IC chips that control the color convergeance. It is also possible that not only the IC chips have gone bad but also there are a couple of resistors that usually burn out with the ICs as well. They will need to be replaced. This isn't something that I would attempt on your own. Typically a TV technician will charge between 300 and 400 to fix at your house.

The part replaced is the blue convergence IC, part number usually

STK392-040 .A generic IC will last 10-12 months. You must have

OEM or better quality for durable repair. I use Panasonic brand.

Change both IC's for long repair duration.

Convergence board

It wouldn't be the entire convergence board, you more than likely have a bad convergence STK-IC. Replacing the IC will take a good bit of knowledge and training as far as electronic repair is concerned, plus a complete convergence set up. In other words, unless your certified, you need to contact a tech. The convergence set up alone has driven men to drink.....
