I just was given this Meade Telestar mounted on a tripod. The only information on it is (D=100mm), (F=1000mm), (F8.8), Telestar.
Please tell me what I have and what do I need to get this to work. The only items missing are the eye pieces and I don't know what else.
Thanks

I have a similar problem with an Helios Telescope that I am currently "storing" for my son-in-law, he has lost Interest in the stars as well as the Users Manual.
The only info on the instrument is "HELIOS TELESCOPE D=114 F=1000mm Coated Optics". There are two eye-piece lenses: H20mm and H8mm and a 2x Barlow lens.
Can anyone HELP. I am a total novice and even having problems geting it to focus on the moon. I have a similar problem with an Helios Telescope that I am currently "storing" for my son-in-law, he has lost Interest in the stars as well as the Users Manual.

This is a small reflector style telescope. Any of the REFLECTOR manuals has enough information to assemble and use this telescope. Look under the REFLECTOR heading for one that is similar to your scope. http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html
Most telescopes use a standard size for eyepieces (one and a quarter inches outside diameter) and if that is the size of the mount in your scope, you can use any that fit. If you do a search on Amazon, you will find hundreds in this size, many of them branded Meade. The other dimension specified will be focal length. 5mm will give high magnification (but dimmer and harder to use) while 20mm will give lower magnification with brighter image and less fiddly focus.
rosores: make sure that the DEC clutch is not locked, and that the screw on the side bar is loose. before pointing it upwards. or damage may occur. STH55
