Almost constant humming/whirring sound. It has become very annoying.

    Model # GSL25JPE BS

Wondering if this is a compressor issue or something else that has been identified.

    Thanks in advance

Age of unit? If you may give me the model and serial numbers I may be able to help you. Do you here this noise when the unit turns off to (Thermostat set point reached) ? Note: Try turning off the ice maker to rule this component out, if you still here the sound then it can only be coming from your evaporator fan located in the freezer compartment or the compressor. Keep me informed.

Most likely a noise from the freezer fan motor. Possibly the plastic blades are cracked or a piece broke off causing an off balance condition. They could also be rubbing some excess ice back there.

most likely it's coming from the evap fan motor or the ice maker, try shutting the ice maker off first to see if that's the problem,if not then i'd go with the fan motor, you can try opening the freezer door, this usually turns the fan on,then push in the door switch button and see if the fan stops blowing and if the noise stops too.hope this helps you out.

Loud humming noise coming from freezer

I believe what is happening, is your Evap fan has some build-up of ice on it. The reason it stops when you open the door, is the Evap fan cuts off. The Evap fan starts back up when the door is closed. What you'll need to do, is open the freezer door, and remove the back panel of the freezer. This takes some 1/4 inch screws and a couple Phillips I believe. Once you get the panel off you'll be able to see if there is any ice build-up on the Evap fan. If need, be take a hair-dryer on medium or low, and melt the ice off of it. This should solve your problem.

Humming noise comming from around the ice maker

If you had your water cut off to the ice maker and didn't have the ice maker turned off, it was your ice maker. You turn it off by lifting the wire arm and leaving it in the up position.

check your freezer for ice. do you have alot of ice in your ice maker tray? if so your water line could be frozen. try to self defrost the freezer for about 3hrs to thaw out the water line. check your water valve also. when you call for water do you hear a humming or buzzing noise? on ge fridges ive worked on if you hear a humming noise when calling for water, most likely your water valve is ok. trace the water. meaning where does the water start? at the wall then through a hose then to your valve which is behind fridge on bottom. trace the hoses and you will find the prob
