Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Motorola SB5101 Cable Modem. What I wish to do is to go to http://192.168.10.1 so that I can use OPEN DNS. I can go to any other website, but when I attempt to go to this one I continually get a Timed Out message. Is there something I can do to be successful reaching that address, or is there a work around?

I haven't resolved the issue, so I can't use Open DNS, but I'll keep working on it. I'm not willing to pay for the solution. Thank you.

How do i accomplish port forwarding on a motorola sb5101

motorola sb5101 is a modem. Modems don't offer any settings to change. you would have to forward ports on your router if you have one. Other wise you will have to open the ports through your current firewall.

I forgot what my Motorola SB5101 cable modem's network key is? How do I retrieve it?

You need to connect to the web management interface of the modem

1) Open your browser and enter the address http://192.168.100.1 This is the default IP of the modem.
2) Enter the administrator username and password
3) Once in navigate to the Wirelss button on the left
4) Then you should see a Security tab. CLick on that

The network key that it is using, 1, 2, 3, or 4 will be shown and selected on the left side. .

Hope this helps.

My Motorola Sb5101 modem will not let me access the internet, the send light constantly flashes and i can't attain any internet connection.

If you have the following lights :
Power light - on
Receive light - flashing
Send light - flashing
Online light - off
PC/Activity - on
Standby - off
Then your Network Access is OFF - modem is successfuly registered but Network Access Control is disabled via DOCSIS configuration file.

Call your internet service provider....

Keep getting cannot connect to primary dns server

you need to call the cable company tell them your ip lease is cycling every 15 minutes, it is a node conflict, they can fix it on their end. if the cable modem is a hacked one, then you just need to clone a new MAC yours is not valid anymore. if not a hacked one, call tech support. good luck!

Motorola SB5101 port forwarding

Try putting 192.168.100.1 in the address box of a web browser. If the modem is provided by your ISP you might need to call them if that won't work.
