Question about Hyundai ImageQuest HQP421HR 42 in. HDTV-Ready Plasma Television
Have just purchased a Hyundai 32" LCD Model CB-L3236LCD. Locallly I have Channel Prime HD and then Prime1, Prime2 and Prime3 which may or may not have differing programs to Prime HD ( I imagine in the future they will). Problem is on Prime 1,2,3 I either get a flash of the program then it returns to a blank screen with a blue box jumping all over the screen with "Invalid Service" written inside the box. Occassionally I may get a great reception on these stations but the Invalid Service box still appears. I can have a reception on Prime 1 say ( with Invalid Box0 and a blank screen on 2 and 3 with the invalid box. Very random it appears but common thread is the "Invalid Box". I only experience this with the Prime 1,2,3 Stations.
I have a an older masthead amplifier booster system and I am about 5 kilometers line of sight from the Prime translator . I have a Panasonic 52" LCD as my main set which experiences no problems and have tried the Hyundai 32" on the aerial outlet which supplies the Panasonic in event the problem was due to a weaker signal at the Hyundai's normal location BUT I still have the Invalid Service problem with Prime 1,2,3.
I went back to the store of purchase and tried their display set ( running on 'rabbit ears' aerial and less than one kilometre from the translator and the same problem existed on that set with Prie 1,2,3 only
Anyone have any solution to this problem. Any software upgrades available for these models?
Thanks in advance for any replies

I have this same TV, and cable from Comcast (which uses the same Motorola Box as Time Warner). Are you using component output from you CATV box, or HDMI to DVI. Your TV has two component inputs and one DVI input, but no HDMI input directly. If you use component, you must do two things. 1. The TV is auto-sensing as to the input signal, and will work with 1080i, 720p, 480p or 480i. Make sure you have a good grade component cable. 2. On your CATV box, turn the power off with the remote, then within 3 seconds press 'MENU'. This will give you a screen where you can specify the output from your CATV. I suggest 1080i, but 720p works fine, too. If you are using the DVI input, then you must be using an HDMI to DVI converter cable or adapter. To make this work -- THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT -- you must set the CATV box to HDMI output, not DVI. Use the same process as described above, but make sure your HDMI/DVI cable is connected, and you have selected the DVI input on the TV. Otherwise, you won't get the proper menu on the CATV box. BTW, the prior suggestion is not the problem -- low signal from the cable company would cause the picture to pixelate, but not lose sync. However, both problems COULD be caused by a defective CATV box. If they haven't already replaced the CATV box, tell them to do so immediately or you will call DIRECTV!!

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.
Please post a comment if you need further assistance so that I can help you further.
