SOURCE: PROTECT UNPLUG
This is a common problem with sony it means unplug me or i will explode, it is a protection of the heat sync and usually means that a cooling fan has shorted out. If under gurentee return to Sony for repair if not under guranebntee as is generally the case check on the net for a replacement fan motor - as far as i know sony were sourcing thier fanns from Sunon there is a German based headquarters - just google sunon europe

2 options comes in my mind...
Put software upgrading CD manually in player and let it finish software upgrade process.
If this trick doesn't work, you need to replace digital process board or need to replace on board ROM, if you can.
let me know if you need further info.
SOURCE: I need device codes
It seems like most (maybe all) Sony HTIB do not work with the Comcast Custom Remote. I've found a work around that fixes the volume control and power button though. Hope it helps you all. I have a DAVHDX275 but I think this will work for most Sony HTIB systems.
What you need to do is steal some codes from a like product and then hardcode in the changes you need to the comcast remote. Set your AUX to 21232 (a sony code for TV/VCRs).
Then do the following:
1. While still on AUX, press and hold SETUP again until the remote blinks twice
2. Type 994
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Type 32975
5. Press and release VOL+
The remote should blink twice. That should reprogram the VOL+ to work with your Sony HT device. For each of the following function codes, follow the same steps and use the codes listed below:
Vol+ = 32975
Vol- = 31951
Power = 32719
Good luck. Let me know if it works.

Hi Joey - I had exactly the same problem.
In my case, I followed the advice of others and took the thing apart. On the main amp board there is a large brown capacitor. Mine had come completely loose, so I soldered it back in place with a good amount of solder to make sure the contacts were ok. I also dabbed some solder on the headphone connectors on the same board (just follow the wire from the headphone socket to the board). Well, when I put it back together and tried it again everything worked perfectly, and it has so far remained free from the error. Hope that helps !
