- try to plug an external monitor on your laptop - if you can see a screen on the external monitor, then you have a faulty LCD - if you don't see anything on the external monitor, then you have a faulty motherboard
The screen replacement is defective or the part number is wrong, check the part number on the back of the original screen and compare it against the the one you replaced, it should match.
If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.
Here are some steps that you can try.
1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left from the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)
2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor. You may need to press the Fn + F10 or F6, depends on the key designed on the keyboard to toggle between displays.
3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.
4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit or simply use a good working RAM. A faulty RAM will cause the laptop not to POST.
5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.
Hi
What precisely do you mean by VGA display, is your laptop not displaying anything on lcd screen,or its having problem giving display on an external monitor connected via a vga port.
if there is no display on the laptop LCD screen, then turn the laptop on and observe for beeps sounds and hard disk spinning sound if still no display is available plug the laptop to external monitor and again restart the laptop.
if there is no display on the external screen and laptop is displaying well in LCD, Then most probably you need to press some keyboard combination on laptop keyboard eg: Fn + f4 , refer to your laptop manual also.
If the laptop is turning on then try plugging in the laptop to an external monitor and see if you get anything on the screen. If the laptop works normally with the external monitor then you will need the screen replaced . If the laptop still shows nothing on the external monitor then you will need to repair your laptop.
No, need to go into the Control Panel (Classic View) and select Personalization. Once in there, you'll need to "detect" external display. Once you do this, click ok, and a new dialogue box will appear. Select to "copy" desktop to external display only.
Once this has been activated (click ok) then the external display will work. You must be able to see the screen on the laptop in order to do this. If you laptop screen is not visible, you'll need to have it replaced first.
