You are most likely better off buying a new TV. You will need a replacement screen to fix the broken one but the cost of this can be almost as costly as a new TV so it is not economical

Gatewy laptop screen

Replacing a screen is fairly easy, usually you will see some rubber bumpers at each corner of the screen, removed those and that will expose the screws, then you will need to gently pry apard the front bezzel from the back shell. after that you will need to remove any screws holding the LCD in place. Locate the model of the screen and find on on ebay or through your laptop manufacter. I just picked up a 15.4" lcd for a toshiba on ebay for 80$ with a 6 months warrenty.

VGA Problem

First open your display properties, click the settings -> Advanced ->Adapter ->List all modes. Check and see if 1440x900 is availabe there.
If not, there are many different integrated graphics adapter from Via. Check and download the newest driver for the integrated graphics you have. If you're not sure, you can look on your motherboard and you should be able to identify the chip (will be one of larger ones) and determine the model from that.
You can also look up your motherboard's model (usually printed on board) on the motherboard manufacter's website to determine the graphics chipset onboard.
If you have updated the graphics driver and still do not see it, try going to your monitor's manufacters website and see if there are drivers available for it.
If you have updated both drivers and still cannot aquire 1440x900 (I'm assuming it is a widescreen LCD flatpanel) then you may want to contact the manufacter and find out if the graphics chipset is capable of supporting sed resolution.
If it isn't, you can purchase a video card either PCI (yes they still make them), AGP or PCI-E online for relatively cheap that will give you 1440x900.

RF coaxial cable adapter is broken

The important information you need to know is that HP no longer manufacters that part,
Third party vendors do sell it however and the part # is 407342-002. It took me forever to confirm this by a photo but there it was.

Well, despite the manufacters warning label I choose to take the shredder apart and found that one of the plastic gears was broken. Hence the motor runs, but the blades do not turn. The thing I didn't understand, the there are metal gears and plasic gears...I can only imagine that the plastic gears at one point or another are going to give. I would suggest not to void the manufacters warrenty, take the shredder back, and get one that is built a little stronger. Hope that helps.
