Here is a manual for the radio. If you go to page 14 it will tell you how to set the EQ.

What are good settings to have to make the music sound clear for a jvc KD-R310 deck?

you will need to access the bass and treble setting on the unit.
If you have stnadard speaker then dont put the bass to high as you can not turn the volume up high.
The same for the treble.
Set them at about the same and turn the volume up until it sounds good.
If it is to quiet then turn the treble and bass down and then the volume up more

How do i adjust the treb/bass?

my initial reply was...On the function button you may need to depress it for 3 seconds to activate base, treble, balance etc But
then I found this, "Rotary Volume Control: The CD receiver uses a 7-way rotary volume control that increases and decreases the volume of the stereo from 0 to 35. The rotary knob also controls other audio settings such as Balance, Fader, Bass, Mid, Treble and preset EQ settings. In addition, the rotary knob allows you to scroll through and select your music tracks when the Music Search function is activated.
Cheers, this should help ya.

I need to find out what buttons control the bass and treble

Press in on the volume control repeatedly to step through the menu of audio functions. The
first option is Volume, followed by subwoofer (only if the subwoofer feature is currently
activated), Bass, Treble, Balance, Fader and back to Volume. When adjusting audio functions,
the unit will automatically exit audio control mode after five seconds of inactivity

Having Trouble Assessing Bass and Treble Controls

Bass and treble can be adjusted via the sound menu only when the z-enhancer is set to off.

To change them while the Z-enhancer is on (B-Boost, Excite, Impact) choose the enhancer mode, then press the play/ent button. You can then use the up/down arrows to adjust bass and treble to -3 to +3

New car, no manual

There is no straigt forward bass and treble adjustment. You must adjust in either the (x-over) or (users EQ) function. It is a bit tedious but performs the bass and treble adjustments at multiple frequencies.

Bass sounds only

That is tricky one. Did you try adjusting the EQ on both the stereo and the amp? Is the Mute turned on because it will act like that? Is both rca jacks plugged in on stereo and amp?

How to adjust treble and bass

At the lower left of the unit, just right of the power button is a button marked LD, with A-M below that. Push this button and the display will say BATT, then, in a couple seconds it will display 2 numbers. The left number is the bass and can be adjusted with the select arrows (left & right arrows). The right number is the treble and can be adjusted with the volume arrows (up & down arrows). If you push the LD button once more, it will display BAL, then 2 numbers. The left is the left-right balance & the right is the front-back balance. They can be adjusted in the same way with the arrow keys. Hope this helps someone.

Troubleshooting on Adjusting Treble/Bass

Look in your owners manual and make sure you are turning the right knobs or pushing the right buttons once you have the adjustment screen for the bass/treble showing. It could be that they use different knobs/buttons than the volume control. If you are using the right controls, then you have a problem that only a shop can fix. You might reset by taking away all the power (acc and bu) for a couple minutes and then reconnect, but if that doesn't help then it time to go to the shop.
