Question about Kicker ZX650.4 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Resistor values Someone had an amplifier(Kicker ZX650.4) turned on and began changing subs and touch wires a few times and the red protect light now flashes on and off every so many seconds. It was opened to be repair and I found that 4 half watt resistors are burnt(R468-R168-R368-R268). I can distinguish three to be 4.7ohms but due to the singe on R368, I can not tell. Could you find the values of these resistors for me for safe repair?

check the fuse on the power wire (+) not the ground wire .. i had a kicker 1500.1 on 2 l7 15\'s and when the bass would hit hard the fuse would vibrate and cause the amp to go into safe mode.. after re wireing the whole truck i then found out it was the 150amp fuse holder

My kicker dx 500.1 and my xpliod tens worked for all of ten seconds before the protect light went red then green keeps doing that

You are running more then 1 speaker on a 1 channel amp. You need to verify how many ohms your subs are, and what ohm you are wiring your subs to run at. Your amp is only capable of running at 2 ohms.

Here is a link to figure out how to wire them correctly.

Was loud, now quiet, never changed any setings.

there are many possibilities here:
-one of the subs came unplugged?
-you blew one of the subs
-your amp is over-heating
-some wire has been fried in your amp
-the RCA outputs on your cd player are going bad.

the amp is a 200 Watt by 4 im guessing and its doing that because its going into protection mode unhook the subs if it stops then 1 you have a bad sub or 2 the subs are too much for the amp if an amp is rated 200w per chanel its 200 max about 75 rms or 75 normal constant power

I think ma kicker kx1200.1 amp is blown or ma kicker L7 are gone

that would be the amp. sorry to say. when a wire crosses over, it sends a shock through the amp, there are a few things to try just to see if you fried the amp. the first thing to try is to move your ground to a different location. second thing to look at would be the fuses. alot of times the fuses will blow at the slightest shock. the amp will still turn on if you have an amp with 2 fuses, it just wont be getting all the power it needs, which could be causing your problem. also, it is worth the hour and a half to mount everything down in your vehicle. you might check the kicker website, because i have herd rumors that kicker offers a lifetime warranty on almost all of their products. best of luck, and i hope you didnt fry your amp.

Protection light won't stop blinking/ Subs don't work

The amp probably has shorted output transistors to eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Goes into protection mode for no reason

if the amp is powering on the sub and playing and then turns in to protect mode it could be the amp is getting hot and its kicking into protect so you wont fry the amp
