Question about Nokia 3120 Cellular Phone

Open Question

Nokia 3120 screen black & charger NG. will new charger fix cell?

Charger input 120 VAC, forgot to use 240/120 step down transformer. Thought I'd been charging my Nokia 3120, and didn't pay attention to its beeping sounds. Kept phone on standby to receive calls, while in Europe on a recent visit. Please answer the following questions:
(1) Did I permanently damage my cell phone, or will it rejuvenate as soon as I buy an reattach a replacement charger, e.g. a Nokia ACP-12U charger?
(2) Also could I have damaged its SIMS card by not having power in cell's battery losing its stored info, such as prepaid minutes?

I need to replace the transformer inside my 12 volt charger. I can not find who makes the ES -66-287rev5 transformer. Need help.

If you have the skill to determine the transformer input is open, I would expect you have the skill to replace a transformer. Based on this assumption: determine the input voltage (120 vac?), determine the output voltage (14 vac?), determine the power requirements (output voltage times the charging current), find a transformer at www.digikey.com or www.mouser.com or www.newark.com.

Hello,

I will accept the second option which is getting transformer.

Go ahead and get a transformer in order to step up the voltage. This is better than hooking up the 120V AC to the master inverter.

In summary, get a transformer to step up the voltage.

I hope this is clear now....

Good luck.

I live in New Zealand which has 240 volt supply on the grid. The zantrex 2000 works with an input supply of 120 volts. How can I use it?

Hi, OK, there are two ways to achieve this. One. Using an external STEP DOWN Transformer, 240 V AC, to 120 V AC. The ONLY thing that matters is KVA. As long as the KVA is the same ir will work. This means as long as the Output Voltage and Current are the same, it's irrelevant whats on the Secondary. So if
The second, is to remove the existing transformer, and substitute with an exactly the same Secondary Outputs, BUT with a 240 V AC,. Input winding. Most likely it is a simple step Down transformer anyway, that steps down, whatever the external voltage is, down to say 12 -18 V AC. Therefor ANY suitable 240 V AC transformer with the SAME secondary winding(s) will work, no problems. You can even get some transformers Overwound, for 240 V AC, a very common thing, depending on transformer construction. There are a few transformer manufacturers in the "Yellow Pages" contact one of them and inquire.
As a tip, sometimes the existing transformer has TWO 120 V windings, and sometimes only ONE side is used, for US power, and for 240 V AC, you simply connect the other winding in series, and NOW you have got your 240 V AC to whatever.

Can not get readings on unit but there is power an changed fuse

I would check voltage to the transformer and from the transformer. Either 120 or 240 VAC to the transformer and 24 VAC from the transformer. The co ntrol panel runs on the 24 VAC. The transformer should be located in the junction box on the heater where the external power is connected.

No, I don't think there is anything wrong. Your UPS seems to have a single phase 240V output, which seems to be "floating" (no or only a weak ground reference).
Just be aware that you can only power 240V equipment from it. If you need 120V for some devices _and_ if the UPS provides sine wave output, you could use a step down transformer for this purpose.

Heater is not heating up.

First, is this a 120 VAC or 240 VAC heater? 120 VAC heater will usually have one Black & one White wire and 240 VAC heater will usually have two Black wires or one Black & one Red wire. If it is a 120 VAC heater then you need to supply the white wire at the heater with a neutral (white) wire from the breaker panel. If it is a 240 VAC heater then you need to verify that you have 240 VAC at the heater from Black lead to Red lead. If you are not sure about how to do this please have an experienced electrician look at it so you don't get electrocuted and/or burn up your new heater. Hope this helps!

I require a step down plug

I'm disappointed that Dewalt does not have the full specs on their website so . . .
Check the specifications on the charger's label; they should read something like 120 VAC or Volts AC and 2.0 (or similar) amperes or just 'A' after a numerical value.
If the label does not give you an amperage value you can use the output value instead and substitute the output voltage at the high end if a range is listed.
To get the adaptor (step-down transformer) wattage, multiply the AC values such as:
120 X 2=240 watts input power.
If these AC values are not available;
Take the high end charge voltage if it is a multirange charger, and multiply those values;
One we own DW9108 (- yours is 7.2 - 18) is spec'd at 9.6 to 18 volts and 2.8 amperes:
2.8 X 18=50.4 watts.
You can see that the values do not correspond but it is a multirange device so the maximum current taken from the AC line can be ~ 2.0 amperes but this is charging a specific pack and the peak input current is only momentary so the maximum output current and voltage are the values one should use as a guide. In other words, the output wattage is closer to the value needed.
Since there are losses in any transformation (mostly heat), the required stepdown transformer must be capable of more than the indicated 50 watts.
A safe factor would be 1.5 X 50 (W) or ~ 75 watts minimum to ensure the charger receives the 120 volts it wants.
Anything that will step down your (?) 220 volts and is rated at 75 watts or more will do the job even if the Dewalt draws a little more current at your line frequency of 50Hz which it may.
