I cann't connect to some specific web when using the NetGear router. I never have this problem before. I have try bypass it by connect my internet directly to the modem then the web get in is ok, by when I...

a lot of times its the sequence of the reboot for each device. what happens is, the modem connects to a particular device (computer, router, etc.) and then establishes that connection as a relationship. if you try to plug the ethernet cable into a different device without rebooting the modem, it will never connect. that being said........make all of your connections modem ethernet to router input, then router output to computer ethernet input. then, reboot the modem (with no power plugged into the netgear...its next, just no power yet). once the ready or cable light goes solid and the modem is up, plug the power supply into the router and let it do its thing, then you should see the "i" with a swoosh under it light up, it will be orange for a bit until it connects to the modem, finally turning green. from the router to the computer ethernet.......click your start button on your desktop, click the "run" near the control panel button....a little window pops up down by the start button....type the letters cmd (short for command) and then hit ok button...........black screen for dos pops up with a blinking curser.......type ipconfig then hit enter. the first stages of numbers for the default gateways etc should read close to this 192.168.0.1 (this is the ip of the router). if you see these numbers, you should be able to surf the web. you must do the reboots in the sequence as stated above.. give each interval a minute to do its thing. some newer operating systems need you to physically acknowledge the "new network detected" and select home away office...... so once the reboots and the ipconfig stuff is done but you still cant surf, restart the computer, hopefully when it comes back on it will detect the new network.

Please clarify what you mean by ''Connect with an ethernet cable''

Ethernet cable means CAT5 or UTP for others or LAN cable. The connection should be LAN port of your computer to LAN1 of your router.

And you can connect also the internet cable usually ethernet cable from your internet provider directly to (ethernet cable)WAN port of your router to get signal from your internet provider.

Also if you get this message, this could also means you still don't set up or configure the router's settings to communicate when your LAN and router. They must see each other to access the router's utility webpage.

Automatic installation failure

unless you were switching from DSL to cable Broadband, there usually wouldnt be much reason to rerun the software just because you got a new computer. when you ran the software the first time on the other computer, it was the router you were setting up, not the computer.
if the new computer is not getting internet when hooked to the router, try this.

1.turn off computer and unplug electricity from router and cable modem.

2. connect all ethernet cable to the right location. ethernet from modem to router goes in the non-numbered port, ethernet from your computer to router goes in numbered port.

3. plug in cable modem electricity first, wait for all its lights to come on like normal.(this part is important). the ethernet light on the modem (it might be labeled ethernet, link, pc link, or something similar) will not be lit, this is normal until you get to the next step

4. plug in the router electricity, give the router 2-3 minutes to get connected to the modem.

5. start up the computer, wait for everything to fully load and check internet again.

hope this helps.

Wrong Kind of Ethernet Cable?

If you can still access the web based configuration on your linksys router (by going to 192.168.1.1 in your web browser) that means nothing is wrong with the cable/connections. However the ISP is not letting your router get access to the router since it doesn't have the same MAC address as your computer's ethernet card/port.

To change your routers MAC address to the sameone on your computer (So you ISP thinks its still the computer connected), you have to first go to start>run>type in cmd and when command prompt opens, type in "ipconfig -all", which lists your IP addresses, etc. Make sure you add the -all (With a space after ipconfig) or else you can get your computers MAC address. The Physical Address is your MAC address. Now once you obtained the MAC, go to your router configuration, and login. Then look for where you can set or clone the MAC address of the router. The default mac address could be on the bottom of the router, if so check for it and just look for that address in your web configuration, then change it to your computers MAC address.

Hope this will fix it!

Wireless router to modem problems

Since it says network cable unplugged on the computer when wired to the router, you need to check these first:

â Make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected from the modem to the router’s Internet (WAN) port and the computer to the numbered port of the router. The computer should used to be connecting to the Ethernet port of the modem, if not; you should contact your ISP first.
â Make sure that the Ethernet adapter/LAN card on your computer is working properly. You can check that on the device manager of your computer.
â If those are all working fine that would mean the router is not yet configured for Internet access or we can say that the settings for the provider are not synchronized with the router.

To configure the router, you can do these general steps:

1. Connect the computer to the numbered port of the router and the modem to the router’s Internet (WAN) port.
2. Turn off the computer, router and modem.
3. Turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize then turn on the router. As soon as the lights are stabilized, you can turn on the computer and check for internet connection.

However, if the Internet connection still does not work. That means there are additional settings needed to be done. You can message me about the name of your ISP and I will provide you the specific steps you need.
