there is a flash code....it flashes 4 times and then off then flashes four times and then goes off. I'm told that that is a code that may tell what's wrong with the TV , I'm becky's husband....same TV.

it turns on, warms up, then right before the picture comes up, the power light starts blinking.....4 times then a pause then 4 times, then a pause....also the buttons on the front acted crazy before the above mentioned problem started. the channel buttons would either turn the TV off or bring up the menu....the volume buttons worked properly. I'm thinking that that board on the front is bad......but there is something else that is causing the other problem. I called a repair man and he wanted $85 just to look at the TV....with no guarantees that he could fix it or get the parts, or even find the problem.

so I wound up buying a phillips 47" LCD for her so she can watch football without binos

I hope no one else wanted presents form me this year :P

I am having the same probem where it blinks 4 times and then shuts off. No picture comes up. We have had this problem for a while but seems like if we unplug the TV for a while, it works again. That is no longer working. I have not been able to get my TV on for 5 days. I called for service and they wanted a fortune for just the call. I am thinking I should just repace it. If anyone has any suggestions, I will take them. I did not really understand the solution that was given below. HELP!

Magnavox PTV910. The picture is good but color is bad

the coolant in the blue and green crts has congealed which is causing the red tube to become dominate. The coolant can be changed at home. You can get the phillips coolant replacement kit at the following link which contains the coolant and the CD with instructions.

Sounds like the red CRT is shorted. I have some magnavox/phillips crts listed on my website for about a third of what they normally go for and i am currently adding The CRTs from a PTV910 43P8431. let me know if you would like me to post a link to the website.

Magnavox tv

This might be a power supply issue either in the switching power supply or in the high voltage power supply. In any case you will need a schematic, a voltage meter, and if possible an oscilloscope to troubleshoot this problem. If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest that you take the TV to a repair shop.
