Trigger valve most likely problem. You could also just replace the two orings on the trigger stem within the triger valve. They are very small (2mm). There are two or three other orings inside the gun that need to be replaced as well. The yellow vinyl orings used by dewalt do not last as long as the black rubber.
This problem occurs when check band is not in place. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. There should be a rubber band around a series of holes on the cylinder. Replace if broken or just put back in place. Good luck
It may be either missing a rubber, no-mar tip on the bottom of the safety or the driver could be slightly bent causing it to slip off the head of the nail and putting a small mark in the wood next to the nails.
I am assuming that the boot is blown off when your fire the nailer. This is caused by a loose/worn plunger and valve. If the plunger moves from side to side too much air will flow past the valve and blow off the boot. Most used hitachi nailers will blow this boot. Only way to fix is replace one or both parts. If air leaks past the boot immediately when you connect to air, check oring on plunger A (part# 874-820) or outer orings on cylinder guide and cylinder plate. These outer orings are easy cut while inserting these parts into cylinder. Check orings for nicks. Good luck and post again if you have more questions.
