My monitor on my HP DV1000 went out. I bought another one for parts that the monitor was still good. How do I swap them, lid for lid? They are the same model and everything. I just want to swap one lid to the other one. Thanks.

Re: How to swap laptop LCD.
Follow the link given below to a page that will allow you to enter the specific model of dv1000 that you have. Download the maintainance manual for your machine and that will tell you everything that you need to know. Pretty much step by step instructions. Not rocket science and should only take a couple of hours. Hope this is what you are looking for! Ron

The 4 most common problems with dim lcd's on a laptop are boken screens, bad power inverter, bad florescent bulbs or a broken cable.
You can test the power inverter with a meter.
There should be 2 bulbs. If your screen is dim and your inverter is good and you can still make out what is on the screen, you probably have a bad bulb. If you can't determine which bulb is bad you'll have to replace both.
In my opinion, the easiest way to handle this is to replace the whole screen. Yes, it's more exspensive, but consider that it is most likely to fix your problem. A replacement screen comes with the power inverter, both bulbs, and the cable; already assembled and ready to install.
plug in a monitor in the side of the laptop if it shows up then the lcd
is bad. Also try and reset the memory by pulling it out and then put
it back in if not in all the wall nothing will appear on the LCD.
Sounds like the LCD backlight or inverter went bad. More probably the inverter, and that's good because,of the two, it's usually cheaper and easier to replace. Before considering those, check the lid switch to make sure that it is operating correctly and not stuck down. Ron
Dear lotaman, I have searched the world to find an exact guide for your monitor but it is impossible. Neveretheless I have found the following guides and they should be more than enough to complete the task in hand anytime.
TIP: The ZV5000 looks and is very similar to the HP DV1000 screen so I would start from there. All guides are very nicely explained.
Please remember to remove the battery before you do any work with the laptop.
