Question about Universal Garage Wireless Keyless Entry System

2 Answers

My Universal Garage Keyless entry system KEP1 stopped working.

Not sure if it's a KEP1 or KEP1A. Didn't use it very often but it did work. Don't know why it stopped. Found installation instructions nailed to the wall and attempted to reset the security code, but no signs of life. The electric outlet it's plugged into is working fine. Looking for trouble shooting advice. Popped the plastic case off the inside wall unit where the set/run switch is located. Is it locked somehow?

Garage door opener 32656-267 will start to open or close and stops and the lights go out and door stops.

reprogram the control unit to the fob remote unit
follow the instructions in the user manual or have an installer come and do it for you
the problem is that the program in the controller is confused /conflicted and really doesn't know where the door is supposed to be

On 4 occasions we found the door open! Installed in November 2014!

Sometimes the down force is set too light and the door opens as it gets to end of travel. Are you sure it was closed and stopped when you found it opened? Or just heading down as u drove off. Also, the wall remote if wired could have a staple that penetrated the wiring, that shorts out and opens door intermittently.

I installed a sears garage door opener and it stops about a foot from complete opening

First thing you should do is read the installation instructions completely. Then set about the task of determining where the issue lies. Did you place the unit in the recommended mounting position. If this was not possible and you made and adjustment you may have to start over and rethink the placement. If yes then look for the up/down adjustments usually can be found somewhere on the unit. Again the best place to find them is in the Instruction manual. Use a small to medium screwdriver to adjust the control to the desired opening and closing point. Remember to incorporate and test the safety features. Also there is usually a 800 number to call with systems like this as they can be deadly if not installed properly this would be another good source of information if you are still having problems.

If in the g.door frame, it should be easy to put it back with glue and caulk making sure the finishing matches with other panels. You may need a helper.

The motor squeaks both on the up and down modes. model no. 248739m. ?It is two weeks old and squeaked from day one.

I just installed this opener 1 week ago and the same thing happened. I remembered there is a "Belt Cap Retainer" that covers the motor sprocket and is held on with 2 screws. I removed the cover and the squeaking stopped. There is a small dab of grease (silicone?) that the instructions did not mention. I spread the grease around the cover next to were the belt travels and put the cover back on careful not to over tighten the screws. No more squeak!

Craftsman 1/3 hp garage door opener I bought a new one - my father installed it and the door will open half way - that is it.. then when you go to close it - it closes and then opens half way...

I hate to say this but it sounds like your father did not follow the instructions when he installed the opener. Try following these instructions.

Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor unit. With the door closed run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With everything attached replace and tighten the chain. Some adjusting of the up and down limits will probably be required.

My garage door opener only works from a couple feet away

On the rear of your motor unit just to the left of all those white wires you will see a small light. If this light is flashing randomly it is normal. If it is flashing rapidly it is an indication of interference or you have keyed your remote. It really sounds like interference and you will have to do some more checking things.

315 mhz is the radio frequency and you cannot change that. In fact if you purchase a new opener you will get that same frequency.

Your opener was made by Chamberlain Mfg. Co. that also makes Liftmaster. That may be where the confusion comes in.
