It sounds like you have left the spring on the inside lip of the door opening when you removed the old seal,
You will have to take the seal off again and feel for the spring on the lip of the front of the drum, you will find it easier if you have something to hook it out with,it is fiddley, but you must get the spring out, or the seal will not stay on
Refit seal as before, and double it back inside the drum, then fit the spring in the groove that you can feel on the lip of the door seal. Work the spring all the way rond feeding it into the groove as you go round, you will find it a lot easier if you have someone there to hold the spring as you are are fittingit, it is very fiddley, stick with it!!!.
Plz rate this solution .
Thanks.

FRIGIDAIRE FRONT LOADER WASHER OF THE COMBO STACKERS MODEL GLEH1642DS1. HOW DO I INSTALL THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa

As for replacing said switch, is as follows...remove the front bellows spring/retainer.

1) **UNPLUG THE WASHER FROM THE WALL OR TURN OFF THE BREAKER.**

2) Remove the spring, get it started where the spring is located with a small screwdriver. Once you`ve got the spring/retainer off ( it comes off and on pretty easy by hand ) pull the gasket/bellows back away from the cabinet.

3) Undo the two screws holding the switch to the cabinet, pull the switch out ( there is just enough slack in the wires so don`t pull too hard ) and swap the wires from the old assembly to the new one and you`re in business.

95f0559.jpg

4) To put it back together, just reverse the removal procedure. The trickiest part is the retainer. Rap the retainer around the boot leaving the spring for the last...and make sure the spring is located at the 6 o`clock position...usually. Just wherever it was initially.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if my instructions are not clear.

Thank's again for visiting FixYa today. Good luck. Please take a moment to rate the solution provided and a short testimony is also appreciated.

WE have Kenmore elite He3t Model Nol. 42926 203. We get an error code dL F. How do we correct this?

It is a door lock failure and it flashes after the door locking routine fails to lock the door after 6 attempts. Replace the door lock/latch assembly (part number 8182634) to solve the problem.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening. Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock/latch assembly off the lip of the right side of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock/latch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock/latch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel. Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harnesses.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock/latch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel. the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Front door will not lock. It looks like the switch is broken. How do I get to it to replace the switch?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

To answer your post "front door will not lock. It looks like the switch is broken. How do I get to it to replace the switch?" I'll start with the purchase info.

You should be able to purchase one at most local brick & mortar stores or on-line part's depot's such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclininc.com" to name a couple. They usually sell for about $50 or so, part # 1531974 ( # at repairclinic.com ) and are relatively easy to replace. It should resemble the image here...

As for replacing said switch, There are a couple ways to access it, through the top and squeezing your arm down the front or the way I prefer, remove the front bellows spring/retainer.

1) **unplug the washer from the wall...safety first of course.**

2) Remove the spring, get it started where the spring is located with a small screwdriver. Once you`ve got the spring/retainer off ( it comes off and on pretty easy by hand ) pull the gasket/bellows back away from the cabinet.

The door is not locked after 6 trials then the Central Control Unit (CCU) will enters a failure mode and the digital display flashes FdL. This is a door lock failure and the only viable solution is the replacement of the door lock and switch assembly.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.

Gently peel the part of the door gasket near the door lock and switch assembly off the lip of the door opening outer lip. Remove enough of the door gasket to access the door lock and switch assembly behind the front panel.

Remove the three screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front panel and slightly lift then pull it back off the front panel and out of the out of the washer cabinet.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock and switch assembly one at a time then install it back in place behind the front panel.

Secure the door lock and switch assembly then put the eased part of the door gasket back over the outer lip of the door opening. Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Machine flashes F then dl. What can we do?

There's a fault detected with the door lock and switch assembly. The door lock is not working or the door lock switch is not activated. This indicates that the door lock and switch assembly is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced to address the problem.

Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening. Using needle nose pliers, start where the spring and wire are connected and pull the wire out of the groove of the door gasket.

My door lock has locked with the door open , how do i get it to unlock ?

There is a manual unlocking tab located at the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly. Disconnect power to the washer before accessing it.

Remove the three screws attaching the toe panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. Prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall for an easy access of the screws.

Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly on the right side.

6afe379.jpg

Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click is heard, and then open the door.

The door lock and switch assembly may need to be replaced if the problem persists. Disconnect power to the washer and open the door. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining spring at the bottom of the door opening.

Secure the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Machine light turns on, cycle light blinks, door is closed but the door lock light doesn't come on and washer won't start. Code shows f dl?

The door lock and switch assembly has failed. You may actually hear it click several times before the code appears. If not, it may not be receiving power or signal from the central control unit to activate.

Disconnect power to the washer to avoid electric shock.

Remove the three screws from the rear of the top panel attaching it to the cabinet then slide the panel rearward, and then lift it off the cabinet.

Disconnect the third and the fourth from right, facing the front of the washer, wiring harness connectors from the central control unit. Clean the connector terminals thoroughly then reseat it several times to ensure a good connection between them. Do the same with the connector second from the top on the left side of the central control unit.

After ensuring that the connectors are properly connected, slide the top panel back in place, and then secure it the three attaching screws.

The next thing to do is visually check the door lock and switch assembly for physical damage.

Remove the wire and spring assembly that holds the door gasket to the lip of the door opening. Use a pair of needle-nose pliers to stretch the retaining spring then remove it together with the wire.

Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harness. Clean the terminals and reseat it several times.

To replace the door lock and switch assembly (part #8182634); connect the wires properly then secure the assembly into position behind the front panel with the three securing screws.

Put the eased part of the door gasket back in place over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before securing it with the retaining wire and spring around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

How does front panel come off (safely) to swap out door switch on kenmore washing machine 41744152400

The front panel does not need to be removed when replacing the door switch. What needs to be removed is the door gasket. Open the washer door. Get a pair of needle nose pliers then look for the retaining hoop securing the door gasket to the lip of the door opening. Stretch the hoop retaining spring at the bottom of the lip of the door opening then carefully pull the hoop out. Make sure not to tear the door gasket or else water will leak through it.

Remove the two screws securing the door switch to the front panel. Peel off the door gasket near the door switch then pull the door switch off the front panel and out of the washer.

Disconnect the wires from the door switch terminals then connect it to the new door switch. Secure the new door switch back to the front panel then put the door gasket back over the lip of the door opening. Properly secure the door gasket to the lip of the door opening with the retaining hoop.

My Whirlpool Duet washer will not start. I keep getting a "dl" and an "f" signal. I assume it means door lock failure. I've tried unplugging and opening and shutting the door before restarting but it won't...

It is indeed a door lock failure. Replace the door lock/latch assembly (part number 8181700) to solve the problem.

Pull the door lock/latch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the wiring harness.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock/latch assembly and install it back in place behind the front panel.

Secure the door lock/latch assembly and put the eased part of the door gasket back into position over the lip of the door opening.

Check that the door gasket is properly seated before putting back and securing the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the door gasket.

Need to reinstall gasket

Unplug the machine and carefully pull the edge of the door gasket near the door opening. Put the lip of the door gasket properly over the lip of the door opening. Check that it is properly seated before putting back on the retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and the gasket. Replace the retaining hoop if it holds the door gasket loose.

Feel free to update me about the result and if you need further assistance.
