Question about Dell Photo 964 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Dell 946 will not print after one print

After one print with the Dell 946 it will not print and I get a bot that says Commuication not available. I disconect and reconnect all cables and it does the same thing. One print and then non. I have reinstalled the printer software and driver several times and it is always the same response. I had Dell support work on it twice and still one print and then no print because of Communication. I have a Dell XPS with Vista for Home.

Can anyone help?

Follow these steps in order to resolve the issue:
Stop the Print Spooler Service: 1) Click Start. 2) Type ‘cmd’ in the Start Search box.Search results should appear. 3) Right-click on ‘cmd’ in the search results, and select Run as Administrator.The command window will appear.4) Type ‘net stop spooler’ into the command window and press <ENTER>.The Print Spooler service should now be stopped.
Delete the Printer Drivers: .
1) Click Start.
2) In the Start Search box, type ‘C:WindowsSystem32SpoolDriversw32x86’ and press <ENTER>.
3) Delete all the files and folders in this directory.
NOTE: If the folder will not delete, rename folder to w32x86.old.
Remove the Dell printer software:
1) Click Start.
2) Click Control Panel.
3) Click Programs.
4) Click Programs and Features.
5) Click the software related to the attached Dell printer to highlight it.
6) Click Uninstall/Change.
7) Follow through the prompts in order to remove the software.
8) Restart the computer.
At this point, the user should install the latest printer software from http://support.dell.com and be able to print successfully.

Did you install the DELL printer-driver software onto the new laptop?

If you've lost that CD-ROM, access the manufacturer's web-site:

http://support.dell.com

and enter '946' and do a search for the device-driver software.

Can you print to a Dell 946 All-In-One InkJet


Dell does not have Mac drivers for this printer. Your Dell printer was made by Lexmark and if you can find a similar printer on Lexmark’s website, it might or might not work. You can also try Gutenprint for Mac OS X which may or may not work.

On a Dell 946, colors are off, blue is pink, green is orange. How do I fix this?


Possible loose or missing pin on your monitor cable. Take out the cable (both ends if possible) check for bent or missing pins, and reconnect firmly.

Dell 946 printer has been working for over 2 yrs with Dell computer. Today computer says can not communicate with printer. Will not print from any program. Ran thru trouble shooting, disconnecting USB...


reinstall the printer driver and check the printer spooler started or not........... to start print spooler go to start...>run..then type services,msc then enter..>it will open a window....>open printer spooler service and restart it.....................

Dell 946 -carriage jam/stalled


the ink carriage is in far left position and jammed. it appears that the black cartridge far left was not seated correctly. how do i resolve this?

Dell 946 Won't Print


turn off the printer.
disconnect the printer from the computer.
restart the computer.
conencted the printer after the computer is up, and all applications are loaded.
the computer should inform you the printer is connected.
send a test page to the printer.
done

Printer won't print says USB is not hooked up


Correct communication problems between the printer and the computer.
  • Remove the USB cable from your printer and your computer. Reconnect the USB cable to your printer and your computer.
  • Turn off the printer. Unplug the printer power cable from the electrical outlet. Reconnect the printer power cable to the electrical outlet, and turn on the printer.
  • Restart your computer.
