I have a very similar problem with my Sylvania 66265lct. The left side of the screen doesn't look like an xray (like yours), but there is a "shaded" area that started out as a slim black line about a year ago, but has now grown and develped into a triangle-like shade that occupies nearly half of the screen.

I tried to contact Sylvania on several occasions just for some advise, but have never received a response.

I am now on the market to purchase a new TV, but will never buy a Sylvania lcd hdtv (or any Sylvania product) and would NEVER RECOMMEND it.

Looks like you have a bad Display Drive Board which drives the LCD display. Bad news is the Display Board is sold With the Panel.

My 42 inch tv when it turns on half is black then color lines show up and down then I'll just tap it slow on top and picture comes on like something is loose inside some times it doesn't work

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

MY FLAT SCREEN WAS WHACKED WITH THE Wii REMOTE, NO MAR KS ON EXTERIOR, BUT SUPPOSEDLY THE SCREEN NEEDS REPLACED, HOW MUCH WOULD COST OF THIS BE, WOULD I BE BETTER OFF THROWING TV AWAY?

If your screen shows symptoms like those seen in the images at the following links then your LCD display panel is permanently damaged:

http://www.edwud.com/photos/cracked_broken_lcd_monitor_screen.jpg

http://squarehe.com/images/0604/cracked-screen.jpg

The cost of replacing a damaged LCD display panel in a modern flat screen TV is almost always about the same as buying a whole new TV. However since all the internal circuit boards (Power Supply board, Main board, LCD Controller board, Inverter board) are likely undamaged and still functional, there is still some significant value left in the set which could be salvaged. Depending on the exact model of the TV, each of the working circuit boards inside can be worth up to $50 each on Ebay.

If you are going to get a new TV, I would recommend buying a new one of the exact same model. That way if you ever have any problems with the new set down the road after the warranty expires, you will still have a bunch of perfectly good spare parts on hand to help you fix it.

Good luck, I hope that was helpful.

Joe.

Question for My LCD TV problem.

Usually this problem is associated with the LCD Screen. The screen is made up of many layers in a matrix form. If there is any separation, no mater how slight ....it will cause the mastic in the screen to break connections. This can be caused by manufacture defects...which is hard to prove. Common causes is someone unaware what happened pushed the center of the screen causing it to flex a minute amount there by breaking the mastic or matrix if you prefer.......replaced screen and corrected problem. That is the most common cause, however as with any problem; other issues can cause the same effect.

The cable (data) comming off the logic board to the screen can have a loose or dirty connection; there by giving the appearance of a broken mastic. In which case unplugging and replugging the cable in and out several times should clear this up.

Last but not least is the logic board. There is no need to try and repair this. Replacement is the way to go. Why most of the logic and data chips have so many connections that special equipment is need to facilitate repairing the board.

Hope This help.

42" LCD tv shows picture on only half of the screen, other half dark!

The T-Con board (otherwise known as LVDS) connects to two seperste parts of the LCD panel. If you do have half a picture (left or right) replacing the T-Con board should resolve this issue. Open your TV, find the part number and search on eBay or at sites like www.flattvparts.co.uk where you can search by TV model number.

LCD screen only has flashes of light

Does the camera really not take photos, or are the photos black or distorted? If black or distorted photos, then it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

The solution to the PSCAN! (half screen cut image) is just as suggested, turn off the progressive scan switch in the back of the DVD player to get the full image and enjoy your movie.
