Your printer, software and driver has nothing to do with your DSL internet service. Go into control panel and see if you printer is still installed, and has a driver.Look to see if the printer cable has be accidently disconnected.

How do i go about geting an ip#?

If you are referring to a Static IP, please call your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
If you are referring to the IP address that your computer needs to get from the DSL modem / Wireless router, then you must give the following details

1. What is the type of internet connection you are using. (Wired / Wireless)
2. Are you using a desktop / laptop
3. What windows you are using

You can also try restarting the modem & the computer and power down completely, even from the walsocket wait for 2 minutes, then plub it on and start again.

I have an ibm desktop.and i had a vieis so i redid window xp now i guess the viris also took the ip address and i need to know how can i find the right address for my pc.i cannot get online my internet...

the virus can not get your Ip address ..the issue may be that you did not installed the LAN card driver ..After you install all the drivers ..just try again ..cause with dsl modem you do not have a static Ip address but you just obtain one automatically so ...after you install the driver for the LAN card ..just reset the modem and run the disk that you have from the provider with the settings for the modem ..or call them to advice for the settings ..if they did not provided a disk with automate settings ..
the LAN card needs no further settings but just in case you have a static Ip address..in your case I think you have to leave it like that cause by default it is set to obtain an Ip address automatically ..
If the the modem never been unplugged or something like that it will work after you install the LAN card ..
either use the drivers for your motherboard is the card is on board ..or look for the disk with your lan card driver ..

I recently changed my internet service from cable company suppplied to At&T DSl service. How do I reconfigure my wireless rrouter to accpet DSL service. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Thanks

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

To configure the modem You will need to use the cd provided.
ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DSL-504T-GenII/QuickInstallGuide/DSL-504T_C3_QIG_v2.00.pdf

Or to configure without the cd follow the steps below:
  1. Connect the Adsl router with your computer.
  2. Use the network cable provided with the router.
  3. Connect the power cable to the modem, it will light on firmly with a green button on.
  4. Open your web browser and type the ip address: http://10.1.1.1
  5. Default username and password is:
  6. User-name: admin
  7. Password: admin
  8. Use the quick setup wizard.
  9. It will be more easy for you to configure it.
  10. Be sure to have the username and password from the ISP for the internet access, you may need to reconfigure it from start. or if you may need to reset the modem
  11. At times to access your modem you will need to set the ip of your network card to the same range.
  12. To set the ip go in control panel then open network connection
  13. Doulbe click the local area connection.
  14. open Internet Protocol Open Tcp/ip
  15. then set your ip Like: 10.1.1.5
  16. ok
  17. ftp://files.dlink.com.au/Products/DSL-504T-GenII_NZ/Manuals/

Changing my IP using existing netgear DG834 x 3 modem

Changing IP is automatic when you switch providers. If you're question is actually changing internet connection using existing modem then it's a different story altogether.

First, using Tadaust as your internet requires a username and a password for a dial up connection and a DSL PPPoE connection. You need this information before you can try to connecto Tadaust.

I am not sure if you are trying to make a dial up connection or DSL connection but both can be done on XP by going to Start -> Network Connection -> Create a new connection and then follow the instructions. Almost the same procedure on Vista.

Here's a link to Tadaust support page which might be helpful to you -> http://www.tadaustconnect.org.au/support/

My computer keeps telling me I do not have an internet connection when I connect my router. I can unplugg the router and plug it back into my dsl modem and the internet again works. why won't my router...

More info would be helpful, but I am assuming that you have a router device that is not the DSL Modem, maybe a linksys, or something? Most likely what is happening is that the DSL modem is assigning private IP addresses, like 192.168.1.x, and the router is obtaining that IP address on its WAN interface, but is also configured for the LAN at 192.168.1.x, which is the same subnet, so it cannot route packets to the internet properly, as both interfaces have the same network range. Can you give me more info? I can try to walk you thru step by step.
Step 1. Verify current IP address when internet connection is working. (Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig, press enter, and document what your IP address is, also document the gateway address and subnet mask)
Step 2. Connect to the router instead of the DSL modem, do the same thing, document your IP address, gateway, and subnet mask
Step 3. Compare the two, your IP may be different, and the gateway may even be different, but see if both are trying to use the same IP range.

If they are the same, or close (the first 3 octets(set of numbers) are the same) then you will need to configure the lan side of either your DSL modem, or the router to be on a different IP address.

To do this will vary depending on the model of your router, so if you respond in the next few hours, I will still be online, and will try to assist.

I'm having trouble hooking up my zonet wireless router. I put the cd in and did everything but it still wont work.

Are you running a DSL connection, or is it cable? If you have a DSL connection, the router IP and the DSL modem will conflict with each other trying to establish connection. This may be something to call zonenet customer support on to find out if it is possible to change the router IP address so they don't conflict. If you want to basically "PLUG and PLAY" return the zonenet router and get a D-Link wireless router. They are most compatable with DSL connections.

Network Connection

First off, the 1394 connection is a firewire connetion. Firewire is a less popular and slower alternative to USB 2.0 connections. Disregard that in respect to your internet connection. Now in regards to your desktop internet connection.... -Go to the control panel, select network connections, then local area connection. -Right click and select properties -Under the general tab scroll down to Internet protocal (tcp/ip) Make sure the settings are set to automatically obtain an IP address. If they are and still are not working you can try to manually assign an IP address yourself. The laptops ip address might be something like 192.168.1.2 so whatever your laptop ip address is make the desktop 1 number higher in the last field (192.168.1.3 for example). Don't change any numbers other than the last field. You can find out the other information like subnet mask and default gateway by using the laptop. On the laptop go to the start menu, hit run. Then type in cmd, this will bring up a dos prompt. Then finally type IPCONFIG . Listed will be the laptops active internet connections and it's IP addresses. Copy over the subnet mask IP address and the default gateway address into the desktop and like in the previous step just manually assign the desktop a different IP address 1 number higher than the laptop. If the dns server's address isn't listed on the laptop a quick call to your dsl provider will solve that question.
