Question about Televison & Video

Betamax SL-HF500 VCR Cassette won't load

Loading cycle doesn't energize when cassette is placed in front load basket. At power up (with no cassette), all motors energize and cycle (i.e., motors appear good). Cassette loaded sensor is leaf switch that appears OK. Plastic gears/cams in loader mechanism appear OK. Belt from loader to mechanism is OK. Motors cycle when the ''eject'' button is pressed (no cassette in machine). Machine worked OK a year ago when placed into storage. What happened?

It is caused by components failing due to age. It was manufactured circa 1984 and had a projected life of 20 years. You may find a service centre that will undertake a refurbish but I have no idea where you are so cannot recommend any one.

Are there any indications on the front panel at all? There should be an error code of some sort there. If not, I'll need to research this a bit. Please update this with any codes.

SOURCE: VCR won't eject tape - timing of loading mechanism is off

Now-a-days most of the gears are made out of plastic(HDPE, if I remember correctly), when the rewinding command is given even if one gear tooth is worn/broken it will throw the entire timing out of 'gear'. Since the problem has already occurred, and, this is the only function that has malfunctioned my advice would be to leave it as it is! ('cos repairing/replacing it is manual & therefore a costly affair plus there is no guarantee that the replacedment will function properly)....sodeep

My VCR/DVD combo wont play a VHS tape when inserted. Each time I insert a VHS tape, it shoots it right back out and sometimes unravels the tape around the apparatuses inside the VCR. It won't reco

the tape coming back out and unravels the tape means the loading mechanism is the problem----when a tape goes in it loads the tape down, then it pulls the tape out of the cassette and puts it up against the drum with the video heads-----many of these are belt driven and a bad belt or belts will cause this----it is called the loading and or transport mechanism.......when it fails the arms come back but the tape does not get rewound back into the cassette so it mangles it when the cassette door on the tape closes----most likely a belt or the drive idler which also rewinds and fast forwards the tape.

First of I think you have a K-Deck mechanism. If you do a Google search for "Panasonic K-Deck" you should find the free information. If you can't you will need to E-Mail me.
This sounds like a a timing problem, perhaps caused by some damage to the Cassette Holder. The mode switch could be part of the problem too. They are quite tricky to set up to get the timing right, I do know the Cassette has to be inside the machine to set it up. The good news is that parts are easy to get hold of, so if any thing is damaged it can be replaced. Curry's partmaster is a good place for parts.

Freeing a cassette stuck in the vcr player with no power light on

This can be due to many faults and need a full check up but I can fill up with few tips.
1. If the cassette is loaded and there is no power then the loading sectionmust be manually removed and the turned to push out the forward loading and eject the tape..
2. use of a 12 volt DC on the loading motor can assist to push out the cassette, make sure the motor connection is removed from the circuit so as not to damage the loading IC.

3. Some cases the capstan also is the loading motor and you can manually turn to release.

4. sometimes a jammed link , broken gear can be the cause and so it must be set free mechanically.

I got an LG VCR GC980NW (MG 64) VHS VCR. I've wrongly pressed both the eject and play forward button at the same time. After that, the VCR shows both the 'EJECT' message and 'No Tape' signal, and then...

It is possible that the mechanism is out of mode as the front cassette loading mechanism and the tape forward loading mechanism have gone out of sync. Now it is important that the MODE of the system control is in the correct parking.
Hence I feel that the VCR must be opened and the mechanism reset-ted. Make sure that the tape loading has come back to the correct parking and also the cassette loading has returned, other wise remove the mechanism and reset.

I change the belt and now, I have a new problem. The cassette won't go inside the vcr. When I push the cassette, the motor won't start. If I shutdown and shuton the vcr, the cassette goes in and come...

It is possible that there is a fault in the INDETECT section of the cassette detection.
Normally this is triggered when the cassette is pushed into and if there is no detection the loading motor does not work nor the lock is moved to let the tray move on into the loading tray.
So when you put the VCR ON/OFF the detection motor works for a small period of time as a pre check which in the process allows the motor the load the cassette into the section but while it is inside the processor does not get the INDETECT or the IR END sensors to work thereby allows the rejection to be ejected out.
You will need to check the loading detect sensors and the IR sensors for the fault described.

VCR tape stuck in machine

This could be a loading basket issue, or the tape has become tangled in the machine. Unplug the vcr, remove the top cover, if you see tape spewed in the mechanical section, plug the power and turn on, now try eject! if you see the tape pulling disconnect power and cut the tape with scissors and remove all the bits and pieces carefully not to damage the video head. If luck is with us the machine hopefully will eject the main cassette. If the tape is not the problem it is a loading issue, probably will need a technician.

F04 is "loading lock". most likely problem is that the timing of the gears in the tape loading mechanism is mis-timed.

VCR kicks out cassettes

Sounds as if something got bent in the loading mechanism when you freed the stuck tape. Careful examination of the loading operation with the cover off may reveal the problem, but you may require a service shop, as there are hazardous voltages present inside, even when switched off.
