Brother mfc 8440

This machine prints 2 blank sheets and jams on the third blank sheet every time i make a single copy of a LTR size piece of paper. I have just installed a new drum and programmed the paper size as LTR and plain but now sucessIhave the exact same problem. When I try to print or copy something the
Brother MFC-8440D printer prints two blank pages then jams on the third without printing anything on it. when I unjam it redoes the same routine ad infinitum.

I tried reloading the software on the cd that came with the printer and yet the printer keeps on printing two blank pages and jams on the third. i also downloaded the software for the printer that is posted on the brother web but it still prints two blank pages and then jams on the third blank page.

I checked that the proper size paper is selected.

if the problem were loose rollers feeding the paper that should not cause it to consistently print two blank pages and then jam on the third blank page no matter what order i give it (wether to print or to copy.

Hi there Bourgois,

First delete any pending jobs in the print queue so we can start from scratch on a new print job.

Then try putting in a single sheet of paper. This is to check the feed and make sure it will begin the print job.

Tell me how this turns out by commenting. The results will determine the next steps.

One more thing, did the printer ever work?

If it did, what happened (if anything) prior to it's current behaviour?

I'm leaning more and more toward an artifact remaining in the print queue. So make sure it's cleared, shut off the printer to reset it. Then try the job again.

    Please comment with the results.
    Mike

The charger corona wire is probably broken or not making good electrical contact. The charger corona wire may be part of the toner cartridge. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the toner cartridge. If that doesn’t work, try another toner cartridge. This is what happens when it prints all black like that. If that doesn't work the printer may require repair/replacement.

sorry I misread and thought you said it was printing black pages, not blank. Here are the possibilities when it prints a blank page.
A blank page is proof that the printer's mechanical
mechanisms work, so there's some good news. To get a blank page, one
    of these is missing.

    1. No image on the drum

    2. No toner on the image

    3. No charge to pull the image onto the paper.
    Thanks,
    Lee

1)the gears which pulls the paper r broken/cracked internally
2)get the printer fully serviced/cleaned.
the problem you r facing is very common and it happens when the gear assembly looses its allignment due to any dust particles gets collected in between the gears and the gears worn out due to this after particular usage and needs replacements to solve the problem
thanks.

Have you done the obvious like reset and pull the plug wait a few minutes and few minutes before plugging it back in. I will star a search as soon as I determine that you have done this.

That is because the paper feeding unit has mechanical problem, usually the traction wheels that pich up the paper are lose and do not have enough pressure to pich up paper correctly.

Ensure that you are using the correct paper format , check between letter and A4.

How can i make double sided copies on a brother mfc 7420 printer???

The manual doesn't say it will do double sided copies. it will copy two pages to one sheet of paper or 4 pages to one sheet of paper. you will probably have to make a copy of the document and then reload the paper back into the tray. experiment with it like put it in face down or face up then which is the top of the page. you can use a marker on a blank sheet of paper to see how it prints out.
hope this helps

Brother MFC-8840D printer w/false paper jam indication.

With my Brother 8840D I have had paper jams that when cleared would not delete from the display nor would the machine operate until I unplugged the machine for around eight hours. I guess it is a sort of reset or reboot.

Printer prints blank pages

The print head is a part of the printer itself and unlike other printers, you cannot remove it or soak it without ruining your printer. So just try the print head cleaning option and perhaps replace cartridges, especially if you are using a third party or refilled cartridge which can clog even if it is full.

Putting out extra sheets

Do you "fan" your paper when you fill the machine? paper will adhere together, unless you " grab any corner of the fill, pull towards that same corner to allow air to get between the sheets.

I have a brother MFC 8440

Have you checked the back paper door?, the paper tray?, and the drum/toner unit? If a paper was torn out of the machine, you may not be able to see the piece that is still triggering the jam signal. You can also pull down the paper guide around the orange fuser roller through the back door by pulling it gently to the left.
